So ive finally got some extra cash and the car is almost in top knotch condition, just waitn on a resistor box to be replaced.
So Im thinkin tommorow Ill go down and order downpipe from vivd racing.

Got a few questions about the megan racing 3" downpipe.

Will I have any problems putting a 3 inch high flow cat in my system?
Are there any fitment issues with the 1g?
And Does it matter if I order an eclipse gsx downpipe? They should be all the same correct? As in itll work with an awd tsi

You'll need a catback as well, and just run a test pipe. And yes the 1G GSX is the same. I'd go with the Megan, that is what I'm running and I love it. I wouldn't run an Apexi, a lot of people would tell you the same as well.

I already had a test pipe , and yes I did love it. But thats not a choice at the moment. Im going to have to run a high flow cat, it is my daily driver afterall.

I DD my car with full 3" straight pipe to a Magnaflow :hellyeah: no cats or resonators. I don't see what the problem is, you live in AZ. People drive sand-rails around town for Christ's sake..

And a FYI, about 3 weeks ago me and a few buddies did some tests with some smog machines from the shop(tech school)catted, vs high flow cat, vs straight pipe and straight pipe exhaust actually ended up being the cleanest exhaust.. High flow cat actually made the emissions on the car worse because it lacks the amount of screens it should have over a REAL factory cat that is supposed to be 90% effective.. This was all done on my car as shown on the side <<< car just had a compression and leakdown test and came out as good as a brand new factory car. :)

So unless your some kind of environmentalist or think a high flow cat is gonna "help" emissions :hmm: I'd go with a test pipe(or less loudness, a resonator 3" straight through). :thumb:

There are plenty of ways to get around using a cat although it is illegal. Either way, you will not be able to install one with the Megan downpipe. Almost any downpipe you can buy for these cars will eliminate the cat. If you want to run a cat, you will have to cut the end of the downpipe off and either clamp a cat on it or weld on new flanges.

Ha ha true that on the sand rails.
Well Ive tried getting through the emissions with just a test pipe, and failed all three times. Only passed it once we put the cat back on.

There was a lot of useful info posted in here, so thanks everyone.
Im going to go with the megan, and get someone to cut it so I can fit a regular 3"cat down there.

I initially installedt a full 3" Megan Racing turbo back exhaust with a test pipe and I decided to use a high flow Cat ( I am a green!). I just cut the the flanges from the test pipe and used clamps as shown on the picture. You can do it yourself and save your money for other parts.
