you can use masking tape or that special paint tape they sell at home depot and stores like that. what color are you painting them?

perhaps make sure the tires are clean before you try to stick tape on them. I have taped off many tires to paint wheels and never had any problems. If you are using cheap tape that could be a problem too.

Good luck

That's because you don't use all masking tape on your tires, it's a waste anyway. Get some newspaper, tape some to the tire and then tape it snug to the back of the tire. A lot less work and a lot more efficient. Good luck.

well i got the wheels all taped off. then i started to paint after hours pf prep and wow is this paint hard to work with. i have 2 get really close to the wheel and move the can very quickly luckily i started on an old steel wheel i found layin around.

what kind of paint are you using? is it hard to work with, as in doesn't stick to the wheel well? i spray a coat of primer on the wheel, and then light sand it all the way around to make sure all of the rough spots are out, then wash it off, let it dry, then start putting the paint on, the first coat should just be a light mist over the wheel, then let it dry, then go over again with a light coat, and then keep doing that until you dont see any imperfections or anything. painting takes experience and alot of time, i think i started painting things when i was 6 or something, stuff that my dad didn't care about... i didnt know a thing about prepping then, i started to realize what prepping was all about when i was 13 or so, i still don't know everything about painting, i've only worked with 3 different kinds of paints.. acrylic, enamel and laquer... but i still have room to improve :thumb:
