I miss my panda maybe ill paint this one white.

While I do like the panda, it’s hard to keep clean. It’s my first white car and probably my last. If I had a choice, it would be silver or dark grey.

Thats what i thought i use them all the time.

Me too. They’re the best dsm vendor imo. Only had a few issues but they get it resolved in a timely manner. Can’t say enough good things about them.

Ive used them since the early 2000s i call them probably once every week for the past few months for stuff i get 99 percent of my stuff from them.

That's not the end of the world. Those seals are "dynamic" and will seal when there is oil pressure. At least, that's how it has been explained to me by FP.

I’ve read some threads and no one mentioned rebuilding the turbo. All they said was to blt after the turbo so i bet you’re right. Weird thing is it never did that before.

I got this turbo about a year ago and have no idea how many miles are on it. The rebuild kit from turbo lab is $65 and the process doesn’t look difficult so I might just rebuild it. Won’t be driving the car until all the snow and salt is washed away so I most likely will end up rebuilding it. We’ll see though

Car looks great man as always. I did a rebuild kit on my turbo few weeks ago, it should be no problem for you. My 97 is my first white car too and i feel your pain. Sits in the garage and gets dirty over night

haha right. If the roads are wet, forget it, it needs a detail LOL.

Do you run 3G revised lifters? I'm debating getting a set for my head rebuild if they are worth it.

Nope. Stock 1g quiet lifters LOL. When I first got the car they made a little noise on cold start. I soaked them in mineral spirit or sea foam (can’t remember). Bleed them in the solution, soaked in oil and put them back in. Not a peep from them.

I did the same to mine, i put up the pics on my build thread. Does my process look right? I've been reading some info and the 3g revised is supposed to produce less noise. Are 1g lifters better than 2g?

I don’t know if the 1g lifters are “better” than the other revisions but I assume the 3g should be since it’s the last time they revised them. Do you have lifter tick? If you do, pick up a set of the 3g. Good thing is you can swap the lifters without pulling the cams. Here’s a good video that goes over the differences.

Looks fine. I’d pump them in some type of solution that’ll break down the junk in the lifter. Then pump them in oil, then bleed and install.

My entire head is out and tore down. Only the valves are installed im at a stalemate until my cams are delivered, im just looking to make the head more efficient and durable.

If your lifters are quiet, there’s not need to change them. Only things I’d do is get new valve seals, kiggly hla restrictor and kiggly beehive springs. The hla restrictor limits the oil pressure in the head to I think 15psi which keeps oil in the bottom end.

Tony, that's true. And it's kind of normal that you hear bubbling. Those seals don't seal perfectly when the shaft is not spinning fast. So the seals would let the air pass through if you supply the pressure from the turbo inlet and you would hear bubbling if you have oil remained in drain tube or oil pan around return port. (or maybe if oil is overfilled) . So it would be better if you would supply the pressure post turbo, from lower intercooler pipe inlet.

I'll do that and thanks for the explanation Hiroshi:thumb:

***WARNING*** not a car update LOL. But I did order a gm map sensor.

Went to dinner last night and on the way back the wife and I decided to hit the casino and hit a nice jackpot. Wish I can just buy a xona right now but the wife wouldn’t be too happy about that.
