my friend just bought a 1987 camaro z28 and wants to race next week when the car is legal.were gonna do a highway race. who do u guys think will win.specs are as follows:
My car 1994 Talon TSi Turbo AWD,113,000 miles, automatic, stock by the time we race ill have my kandn in.

His car 1987 Camaro Z28 305 pushrod V8, 115,000 miles, automatic, all stock except for dual flowmasters.

Stock you should both run about the same, rated anyways. He might get you top end because you have the restrictive stock exhaust and 1G exhaust mani but I would say it will be close. I beat one of those when I was a kid with my MX6-GT so if that tells you anything.

which 305 does he have? the carbed ones have like 140hp and TPI i think was around 210. You should win, TPI usually doesn't have good top end and if he's carbed you'll walk all over him.

well look under his hood, it will be pretty obvious if it's carb or TPI. And if it's the carbed 305, you'll walk him so bad it wont be funny.

If its an 87 LG4 car is has 165hp. 87 could have a lb9 (TPI 305 220hp) or a l98 (350 tpi 245hp).

I figure its probably a lg4 so you shouldnt have to much problems with him. Factory gear in his car is probably either a 2.73 or 3.08 so be prepared to go over 100 pretty easy. When I had the 305 in my car I could push 120 at 3500 in third gear.

Most thirdgen camaros (82-92) you come across are going to be turds. I have seen very few thirdgens in person worth having.

BTW his exhaust will be much more restrictive than yours....camaro manifolds are junk...especially running a 2 1/4'' y pipe to a 16 year old catalytic conveter...then 2.5'' pipe to a crappy flowmaster.

If you run him from the line you would probably take him to. He has pretty decent torque numbers but he will spin bad. Stock rear end on thirdgens arent usually posi. So he will probably spin his back right tire pretty bad...especially with crappy tires.
