Finally scanned a new article for the thread.
The HKS Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

The goal was a 40% power increase, reliable, emissions compliant, California legal.

I found this in my old engineering stuff, looks like ChryCo did some marketing on my campus (Northeastern University, 1991). This was around the time I got my first time.

Not sure how many OGs still stroll through this thread, but stumbled across something recently wanted to share. Apologies if I posted it before.

The article, " Joint-venture sportster" shows an artist first sketch of what the joint venture sportster would look like. Also makes mention of a forth coming four-door family sedan, a 2.6 lite four cylinder and a V6. All of which never came to fruition.

Thank God they chose to not go with the V6. Bleh. But that 2.6 turbo intrigues me. Were they gonna go with the 2.6 turbo out of the StarQuests, but in an AWD form? That's pretty awesome to think about.

Love this thread.

Love this thread.
The 2.6 from the Starion did seem to makes sense back in the day. They could easily pull that from the Mitsu parts bin and they were even playing with an 4WD Starion.

However, there were some other things in play that fortunately all the planets aligned for and we got a derivative of the cyclone motor. The 2.0 4G63T was already in its final phases of testing in the Mitsubishi HSR test mules by the mid 80s. The HSR test are my favorite bit of Mistu 4G63/DSM history. I have attached a photo of the prototype 4G63 in the HSR.

The test mules were the test bed for the following:
*4G63T 2.0 DOHC (295ps @ 8,000rpm)
*4WS System (4-Wheel Steering)
*4IS (4-Wheel Independent Suspension)
*4WD (4-Wheel Drive Full Time Sport System)
*4ABS (4-Wheel Anti-lock Brake System)
*Active ECS (Electronic Control Suspension)
(NOTE) collaborating with Yokohama Tire due to current tire speed limitations, AVS was developed.
*Yokohama AVS (Advanced Vehicle System)
*Yokohama AVS High Performance wheel
*Yokohama AVS High Performance tire

Not sure if someone else has posted this in the last 20 pages, but I have a dealer pamphlet I purchased a few years back off eBay:)

God these cars were slow. I think we have N/A cars with smaller engines that do better 0-60 today.

For their time they ripped I know. But damn man, my edge did 0-60 in 5.6 100% stock. Lol. But boy does the DSM completely change into another monster when you do basic stuff to them. Love these cars. Really wish I could go back in time and get one brand new.

What is “GST4”? Must have been an early prototype name?

And what is up with Talon wheels? 😂
Your eyes are okay? :D :D

GSR-4 the JDM version. :D
