i have a 3" ls1 maf with the maf translator. i understand that all the maf-t does is "trick" the ecu by telling it it sees less or more air than it really does. i understand that the ecu tells the injectors to give the amount of fuel equal to the amount of air the ecu sees. i also understand that under wot, the ecu tells the injectors to give all the fuel that they can right? so with if someone is running lean under wot, turning the wot knob "rich" or clockwise, does NOT give you more fuel, in fact, it tells your ecu it sees more air, and when the ecu sees air over whatever the magic number is to start fuel cut, the ecu freaks out and says "woah! i cant possibly have enough fuel for that amount of air, i need to enstate fuel cut before this car runs seriously lean!" and i believe i've proven this to myself, because at first i thought i could just richen up the wot knob, and increase the boost, but all i did was get fuel cut, so then i turned the boost down, and left the wot knob rich, and still got fuel cut. turn the wot knob back to zero, and fuel cut went away. now, i also understand that when the car sees less air, it increases timing, and i understand that when you put in bigger injectors, i turn my base knob down, effectively telling my ecu it sees less air than it really does. i think it does this to have it not run super rich under closed loop and normal driving. BUT, i understand that that will increase my timing, and i understand i dont want to increase my timing too much. i'm about to get 550's becuase i'm running to lean with my 14b. if what i believe to be right about what i said earlier with wot, that no matter what injectors i have, under wot, the ecu tells the injectors to give all they can give, then, wouldn't it be better to just leave the base knob set for 450s, so that i dont increase timing, and just lean out my idle, and mid knobs, so that it won't be too rich, and just leave the wot knob at zero, so that the ecu doesn't see too much air, i wont have fuel cut, and i can tune the car by adjusting my BOOST to match my fuel, rather than what most people do which is crank the boost up all the way, and try to tune the fuel to match the boost? understand my point and idea? if you cant really make the injectors give more by messing with the wot knob, (because they're going to go all out because that's what the stock ecu tells them to do under wot) than why try to tune your fuel under wot, why not just figure out that thats all your injectors got, and then turn up the boost or turn down the boost, to match your fuel?
