Oil Pump special tool?

Does anyone have any idea where I could find special tool MD988164? It is the tool used to pull the oil cap plug out of the oil pump... that is the part # listed in the manual, but nobody up here seems to have any idea what I am talking about.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I believe you can use a hammer and a flat screwdriver/chisel to spin that out.

but I can't get it out... and I am starting to chew it up... I am getting a new oil pump, and I am removing the balance shafts anyway... but it would just be a nice tool to have...

The dealerships don't even use that tool, just a dull chisel and a hammer. It's actually easier than using the tool.
Heat the front case up a little bit with a propane torch than try again.

that is funny... I CALLED the dealership... and he said the same thing... "WE don't even have that tool..." I said: "so how do you change an oil pump on a 4G63?" ... ... ... he said: "I couldn't tell ya... ":laugh:

Hooked on fonics werked for me. Oh yea, so did a hammer and chizel. Just keep one working at it until you break it loose.

If you buy a new oil pump you still have to put that plug back in. It comes seperate with the o-ring. I just used the best pair of needle nose i had and i was able to put in on nice and tight

You might try these, but my quick search yielded no fruit. No special tool with that number, either, since I doubt a banana would have worked..

hummm... maybe if I use the bananna to make an imprint of the cap... then FREEZE THE BANNANA... you might be on to somthing...
