i am new to the site but do have some knowledge about dsm. i have a 1991 tsi awd turbo with the following mods:

john shep stage 3 tranny
act 2600 clutch
SBR bullseye power t04b v 50trim turbo
stock 2g manifold
apex n1 downpipe back exhaust
FMIC with hard piping
toyota supra twin turbo fuel pump
FPR (fuel pressure regulator)
GM MAF with GM MAF transmitter
greddy 660 injectors
AEM UEGO wideband

the problem is when i start the car it wont smoke....but no longer than a minute after i start the car it will start pouring smoke out of the exhaust....and after i shut the car off there is oil inside the tip of my exhaust.....my two guesses would be bad valve seals...bad piston rings....just posting to get other ideas or more info and the turbo has very little shaftplay but nothing major

A good way to check if it is your motor or turbo is to take the turbo and manifold off and see if there is oil before or after the turbo.

took the manifold off earlier to check that....but i havnt started it for a few days and didnt really notice much oil in the ports of the head for the manifold.....looks like there would have been oil there though..........but as far as the color of the smoke it was a blueish color......its been a few days since i paid attention to the color and im not to worried about fixing the problem yet i dont drive it yet anyways but summer is coming up and lookin to get the problem fixed in a few weeks.........thanks

It could be the turbo! It takes a few seconds for a turbo to start smoking after starting the motor.

Here is when i blew a turbo at the track! Full of oil before i ran and 1 in a half quarts low when i got back to the trailer. The oil supplie was from the head. So i say you can loose alot of oil from a bad turbo!
