Well I figured it was time to make a build thread of my own. I chose doing a street cat build because I didn't want a dedicated race car. I do want to take it to the drag strip and even try some autocross events locally but I don't want to have to trailer it anywhere.
I bought my 1991 eagle talon tsi from a
Friend of mine, it was in rough shape to be honest but the price was right. It did run but it needed a good bit of maintenance work that he neglected to do. It had a eBay 20g on it and eBay intercooler setup that looked awful tbh . But it ran amazingly well.
I ran this setup for a good while until I got a hell of a deal on a pte 5031E and 680cc injectors. I couldn't pass it up.
I had this setup at 26psi but with the eBay intercooler setup I kept blowing charge pipes, and fixing them was a total pita. So I ordered a vr speed short route intercooler kit. Problem solved.
So at this time the car just had a stock 6 bolt with bolt ons.. I ran this setup for a good while until I noticed it was smoking pretty bad at decel. I figured at first it was just rings so I decided to take the engine out to do a stock rebuild.
After getting the engine all torn down I found my problem.....
Number one piston was done.. So now came the good stuff.. The build begins....
The rebuild:
.20 over 6 bolt block
Stock crank
Eagle h beam rods
Wiesco .20 ovr 9:1 comp pistons
Acl race rod/ main bearings
Cometic head gasket
Arp headstuds
Stock port 6 bolt head
Brian crower springs
3G revised lifters
Brian crower 272 cams
Hks cam gears
Kiggly hla regulator
Magnus motorsports intake manifold gasket
PTE 1200cc injectors
Holset hx40 (8 blade 60mm)
Bep .55 a/r housing
Punishment racing o2 housing (38mm open dump)
Tial 38mm wastegate
Megan Racing 3" downpipe
Custom 3" exhaust (vband connections and magnaflow muffler)
Act 2600 w/ street disc
Act streetlite flywheel
