Well I have had this problem for a while and am just not getting around to addressing it so here goes.

When i turn the steering wheel either way there is a squeeling noise. It doesnt have anything to do w/ my ps rack b/c I just replaced that 2 weeks ago and the noise was there before I replaced it. My question is what all turns when the steering wheel turns that could cause a squeel? I was thinking maybe cv joints or something to do with my drive axles but obviously I am not that sure b/c I need some help.

So any help would be great. If I didnt give enough information then lmk and I will tell you what you need.

Thanks,
Cody

it could be a cv joint, or a wheel bearing going out. but the front of the car on jacks so the front tires are off the ground and check for whell wobble, thats a sign that its the bearing going out. Also it could be the breaks squeking. my car squeeks when im not on the break, but goes away when i push the brake in.

I have checked for wheel wobble and its not a wheel bearing. And its not the ps pump or the belt. Both brand new, and it made this noise before I replaced all of my ps stuff.

Im goin to check it out this weekend though so hopefully something comes out of that. But woudl it be possible that like if all or most of the grease in the cv joints is gone then it could make this noise?

my car started squeeking recently too!!!

and mine goes away when i apply the brakes also...

but its not a constant noise, however when i hit a bump or sumthin the noise is triggered...its coming from the front drivers side...

i have a 97 GST(recalls done, new ball joints, etc.) with 18' rims and lowered...

is it a squeel or a squeek?

If it is a squeek, You may want to check your steering column and your steering coupling. Check for free movement in the ujoints that are on your steering column (make sure they flex easily in both the x-axis and y-axis)
