Alright I have a 2g and still have the stock O2 housing, but a while ago, before the Evo 3, I bought a 14b off a guy and he gave me a free 1g O2 housing with it. Now this O2 housing was a little different, the owner had modified it and welded on a O2 dump. So now it is basically an unported 1g O2 housing with a dump instead of being recirculated. I have had it on and it seems to work alright and I have had 0 boost creep, at lower boost levels. The welds are real good and it seems of quality.

I know the 2g housing is better flowing, but will it flow better than a 1g with a dump? I assume all that extra exhaust that is dumping instead of going through the exhaust system is helping flow. Which one will see better gains? Not much gain from either I am sure, but it does not hurt me, except for 15 minutes of my time, to switch them. I was kinda wondering and figured I would ask. Just to get other people's opinions would be nice.

Thanks ahead of time,
Josh

i think if you hogged out the 1g one you could get it almost close to the size of a ported 2g one, but a ported 2g housing is always a little better in my opinion. so pretty much port the 2g one and try that one on and if you like the performance better than the 1g w/dump then use that... if it only takes you 15 - 30 minutes to change it than you could just try one out for a week and than the other. just a thought...

changing the o2 housing is not just about controlling the boost, its about allowing the flow of exhaust to escape the chambers as quickly as possible. which in turns causes more power. using the stock 1g is completely fine but if you are wanting more out of the products you have on your car you will want larger diameter exhaust pieces. since the 2g o2 housing is a bigger diameter to start out with porting it will give you the most power out of the two. since the 1g is dumped it is an aid to eliminating boost creep but not the cure. porting the 2g o2 housing will do pretty much the same.

don't fix what ain't broke. :thumb:

if I were you though, i'd get rid of that 1g for a 2g anyday. not for performance gain, but for peace of mind that I have a MUCH larger exhaust diameter.

I literally cringed when I compared the two [ stock 1g to my super ported 2g ]
