I have a question about the NX intercooler chiller. I want to know exactly how the nitrous freezes the intercooler. Does the solenoid create a mist to cool it or does the solenoid actually spray into the bar and the bar cools the intercooler? I am thinking it sprays into the bar but how if the bar is closed. Where does the Nitrous go? Does the kit have a pressure switch that limits the pressure going to the bar? I'm confused  Any help?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was thinking that but wasn't sure. When would be the best time to use the sprayer? If there is anyone that uses it, can you tell me when you use it? Do you spray it when you are staging and get the intercooler cold before the run or do you spray it as you are actually going down the track? Sorry if these questions sound dumb, I just want to know because I may be buying one soon. Thanks.

I would choose another route. The NX kit is WAY WAY too much money for the small performance gains IMO.

You can easily make your own w/ just a nitrous solenoid, steel braided line, and an old fire extinguisher or CO2 tank.
There was even a guy on ebay selling the "spray bars" that wrap around the intercoolers in any size you want for under $35 i believe.
Theres a real ghetto-rigged being sold on ebay right now for 80 bucks just to show you how easy they are to make. EBAY LINK
A google search of "CO2 intercooler etc" should get you too FAQS on how to easily make your own. Some people even make their own spray bars w/ just PVC w/ great results. Just trying to help.

And in response to your ?'s. I made one and it is beneficial against heatsoak. At the track you would use it before the run to completly chill the intercooler though I'm not claiming the HP gains are huge or anything. Seems to be great when using the stock intercooler and you have been sitting in the hot 80+ degree weather at traffic lights, then the guy next to you wants to go at it. Helps get that "kick" back the car seems to lose after warming up.

I have the NX kit and while it is more expensive then the ebay setups, it is really nice equipment and if the money aspect doesn't bother you don't buy a ghetto rigged kit. The money spent on a nice setup is always worth it in the long run.

I use it in 3rd and 4th only and mostly only on hot days where i know the intake temperatures are going up and the car is losing power. My buddy picked up 38hp on the dyno on his 460hp Miata. Now there is no airflow (other than a fan) to the intercooler, but it was also 65deg outside at midnight when he was on the dyno. When it's 90deg at the track that gain is likly the same. I have yet personally to see any gain from it as I got it too late last season (sept) and it was already starting to cool off before I had a change to try it (october the first time) so i never really felt any gains. After my previous experience with it on my friends Miata I am expecting some gains from it this year however in hot temps. Anyway here is a pic...
