im new to turbos but i am learning quick im down to the exhaust section and i have a question about external dumps with and without and external wastegate correct me if im wrong but a turbo with a built in wastegate can use a external dump with out an additional wastegate. and a turbo without an internal wastegate requires an external wastegate.

and to determine boost and adjust boost, it requires a vaccum tube from the bov to the wastegate

if im way off is there a turbos for dummys so i can learn this stuff b4 i do something stupid

the owner of the car b4 me screwed up the vaccum line on the bov

glad im not the only one

i guess what im trying to get outta this

ii have the t05 turbo and it has internal wastegate so i dont need an external so do i use external dump or internal external makes more since but will it hurt the power?

and another thing on my stock 1g bov the top vaccum line has been removed and i want to replace it where do i run this vaccum line to>

External dump tubes are just to prevent boost creep. You might gain a small amount of power by running one, but nothing too noticeable. You can use either one. The line off your BOV should connect to the top of the intake manifold.

okay so either one will work since i have an internal wastegate the external dump just lets into open atmosphere and the internal dump just mixes it with the normal exhaust emissions

I can recommend some very good books, which I have in my own collection.

Yes, you are correct in that if you have an internal wastegate, you do not need an external wastegate. However, sometimes the internal wastegates can prove to be unable to control boost, because it is not capable of diverting enough exhaust gas away from the turbine. Hence, you get boost creep. Boost creep is bad if you do not have enough fuel for it.

External wastegates are large enough to divert enough exhaust gas away from the turbine and give you rock solid boost in all conditions. They are also large and take up space in the engine bay, and they are also quite expensive.

I suggest you take that old t05 (not sure what that is; TD05?) and sell it. Then look into the huge range of DSM Hybrid turbos utilizing the very latest in compressor and ball bearing technologies that bolt directly to your stock manifold. They make ungodly power.

In the end they may cost less than getting the manifolds and oil lines, ect needed for none DSM specific turbos. That is just a suggestion.:thumb:

Not really sure what turbo you are talking about here. As soon as you make it more clear, then I can help more. In your profile you are wishing for a 16G. That is a Mitsubishi turbo that is a direct bolt-on for your car. It is designated TDO5H-16G 7cm^2. The 7cm^2 is the A/R for that turbo. TDO5 is the turbine wheel designation. 16G is the compressor type.

hmm i need to check those books out....i dont really want a 16g i did my profile in like 2 min i want the stock turbo to do 250ish hp how can i get this> run all time

The 14B is easily capable of 250hp. I believe a full exhaust, MBC, FP rewire, and 190lph fuel pump should be able to support 18psi on this turbo. That should give you around 250ish. Its all speculation. I have AWD so a dyno is few and far between.
