Forgive me Lord for it's been at least 5 years since driving a DSM. I do miss the community but as many of the old timers on here know life can take you down some pretty interesting paths. This summer I took a rather interesting turn away from the automotive path I've been on for a decade and a half. The last few years I've found myself burning out rapidly on all of the car stuff. Working on cars 45 hours a week, trying to fix up my own stuff and some side jobs plus all of the racing stuff I've been involved with for autocross and drifting has pretty much exhausted my attention span for cars.
So this summer I took a bartending class! Honestly, I just wanted to become a better alcoholic only to find out you can be paid pretty well to help OTHERS booze it up. After taking the class and buying tons of booze I think I've got a pretty good handle on making some cool drinks. During the 2 week course (which took me 6 weeks to pass ) I also picked up a nice Olympus Pen PL1 camera. I've combined the mixology and photography interests in to one cool facebook page called the Drunken Beard Tavern.
While I do hope to land some more private party bartending gigs both from the site as well as through referrals, the facebook page is not directly connected to generating money i.e. the page is not my "business website" and you won't get bombarded with adds pushing a product.
For those of you on facebook I invite you to check out the page and participate as you see fit. I have two big things I do each week, Whiskey Wednesday is where I'll post some sort of content/drink/etc involving whiskey. Friday night is the big night where I will make some random drink that the fans have requested throughout the day. It's pretty cool seeing what everyone wants me to make but it also helps me be creative with the bartending and photography skills.
Below are a couple of pictures where you can see what I put up on the page. Most of the content is drink mixing at home but if I get a chance to visit a pub, brewery or other alcohol-oriented venue then I'll do my best to document my travels.
Anyways, it's been a while since I popped in just to say hi and I thought I'd let ya know I'm still around.
