I've wanted an eclipse for a long time, and i finally have the job/money to afford one.

i plan on eventually modyfying it, but i have a couple questions.

i read the tuning guide on dsmtuners and extrememotorsports.com, and i see that dsm doesn't say you need new injectors with the 300hp goal.

but extremesports does.

anyway, with new injectors comes the need for an upgraded ECU, and i read that without knowledge of air/fuel ratio you can really screw your engine up.

are new injectors needed with the 300hp upgrade? if so, how hard is it to tune the air/fuel ratio?

i'm probably gonna end up getting a 98 gs-t model. i want a gsx, but the only place i can find a half decent one around here is at the dealership..and they want like $15,000+ for them.

and the only real advantage to AWD that i have seen is traction..which i don't really care about, since my 94 accord handled perfectlly fine in the nasty NJ winter we had this past year.

No offence but an eclipse puts out a 100 more horsepower than that accord of your. if u get a Fwd and start modifying it u will kick your self in the head for not gettn an AWD dsm. u talk about making your car 300hp u will have the hardest time gettn low et due to traction trust me. do your self a favor get an AWD u will understand me once u get one.

The only way I can afford to buy an AWD eclipse is if i get an older one..like a 96ish one, which i don't really want for a couple of reasons, but mainly because the milege will most likely be higher..and so many people have told me that high mileage eclipses should be avoided because they have serious problems..whether or not this is true, i have no idea.

i would have to wait atleast another year before i can buy a 15,000 car and be able to modify it..and i hate my accord and cant stand driving it any longer than i have to

my engine has 150000+ on it and still pulling strong, and yes if i was you i would go with awd, it makes all the difference in the world.

I second that!!:thumb:
I've owned both and would never go back to FWD.You have a 94 accord,i'm assuming it runs decent just slow right??OMG you have the money and the job to get a t-DSM?Sell the Honda,Buy a AWD-DSM,get some mods put them on and start living a happy life!;)

you make it sound so easy, heh.

the only gsx i would even want around here is 90 mins away.

it's white w/ tan leather interior, and 61k miles, with 5 speed. but the dealer wants 14k for it.. and it's got white aftermarket rims, which means some kid probably beat the shit out of it.

anyway, if someone could answer my first question about fuel controllers and how easy they are to use, i would appreciate it.

i appreciate the posts on why i should get a gsx, but honestly finding a 97+ gsx that wasn't beat to death by some highschooler is gonna be an almost impossible task.

the only advantages i see too AWD are quicker launches and more traction..

for one, i don't plan on racing all *that* much...and i do mostly highway driving anyway when im not at work, so the faster acceleration will definatly be a plus with the FWD.

traction is a pretty big deal, but i only work 4 miles from home, so it's not like i have to make long commutes in the snow/rain.

im not sure if u need injectors for 300 hp. i suppose that matters if it is wheels or flywheel hp but fuel controllers are not too hard to work as long as you have a logger.i it is possible to get 300 hp with out injectors if you concentrate on everything else with the boost at like 15-16 but most people are going to tel you to be safe and get injectors then put the boost a little higher

ya wil prob be sorry w/o AWD - but anyways... fuel controllers are like anything else.. ya just gota get used to them. with some practice, no prob

You might be able to hit 300 crank horsepower without upgraded injectors (upgraded turbo of course, not the t25). But you won't hit 300 wheel horsepower without upgraded injectors and some major tuning.

You have three options to control bigger injectors:
1) gm maf translator to control the injectors and a pocketlogger palm device to tune with.
2) a safc to control the injectors and a pocketlogger palm device to tune with.
3) dsmlink, which is the mother of all!!! You can do so much with it, control injectors AND use it to data log. But you will need a 95 ecu eprom, the software, and a laptop. Not a cheap package.

If I had to do it all over again, I would get a gsx. I like my gst, and from a 3rd gear roll it is deadly; but it's so hard to get traction and I've even got nitto 555r drag radials on too. It's too much power for fwd.

Hmm Im very happy with my FWD, traction? nothing that a pair of drag slicks doesnt take care of really (of course these arent practical for the street). Plus the added 300 lbs...

I really dont have problems launching my car, of course I dont have 400 hp or nothin like that, nor do I ever want to go that high (At least until I get another car I can drive when mine breaks down :) )

Of course I really wish the car was RWD over anything. :(

Tires and suspension help the FWDs alot when your launching. But it is cool went you can just dump it and go in the AWD :)

I'll put another plug on her about FWD and traction...it is a big deal very early on in the modifying. I have a GST w/ Automatic and all I have to do is crank the boost past 14psi and traction disappears in 1st gear on dry road...1st and 2nd on wet (this is with a 4spd automatic).

I wish for a GSX, but am happy with the price I got the GST for and wanted the auto for my commute (I have 3 stick shift Mustangs for when the auto starts driving me nuts).

go with 550cc's,RC's are good.Even @ 300hp they are still a good upgrade!Horsepower is addictive and you will want to go up from 300;)
