Newbie intro and WTB car

What's up guys? My name is Dylan. This isn't my first time here but I can't remember the email I used for the last account I had and its been over three years so might as well start over again.
I live in Eastern NC (Jacksonville) to be specific, my first car was a 1g N/A that I turned turbo, had an NA spider that I swapped to a 4g63t. Then I went to the dark side and worked on a 240sx for a little while but now I'm trying to get back in the DSM game. If anyone in the NC area has a 90-95 DSM AWD for sale hit me up. Currently deployed and looking to come home to a sweet project car. Feel free to PM me.

These cars are becoming classics. I payed 2800 for my 1g about a year and a half ago. (90 awd with lsd), paint is faded bad on hood, but it had the bcs mod and a tune so it MOVED OUT!! Fastest car I had been in besides a 600+hp mustang, so i had to buy it... Now i'm seeing a totally unmolested 99 for over $12,000 on craiglist, and junker 1g's for 2,000! Goodluck, maybe you should consider starting with something with a blown engine/andor transmission thats where i'm seeing the deals now-a-days.

The crappy part is that the guys around here know that DSMs have a good reputation therefore, they think every single one is worth a million bucks. The funniest one I've seen was a 90 gsx, no motor, tranny, or harness, body was severely rusted and the guy was asking like 3500... There's more and more of those popping up on craigslist by the day. And the ones where they only want 1500 or less are usually 420a 2gs with lots of body issues. I got me and my buddy keeping an eye out for a reasonably priced one. I understand what they're worth and why people ask a little more for them but the people here are asking ridiculous amounts of money for nothing more than a barely rolling shell

How far are you willing to travel for one? the guy down the road has a gst for sell. he wants 4000 for it. and its preety clean. it has a salvage title but it was put back together correctly and the frame is straight. it is also very clean.

4000 Is steep for a salvaged title. And as far as traveling I would be okay with going to SC or VA to get one if it was dependable and ran to where I could bring it back to NC or possibly trailer it. But sorry, 4k is kinda steep for what I'm looking for. I'm trying to find something blown motor, maybe spun bearing, cracked head... no rust, but not a clean body. Basically a project. I have motors that I can put in one from previous DSMs, so if it didn't have a motor that would be okay too.

Not a lot of people know about this but there is a site called searchtempest SearchTempest Online Classifieds Search - All of craigslist, eBay & more in one search.
and it allows you to search all of craigslist, either by mileage from your zip code, or you can search specific states also, Thats actually how I found my talon 500 miles from me and then a transmission 400 miles away its pretty cool

Bought my 95 eclipse gsx with a clean title fresh paint some "nicer" wheels with a messed up motor for 1800! If try for one with a messed up motor over a messed up tranny! Good luck and thank you you for your services!

Thanks guys, glad to know there's still a few people that back up the military. The trans or motor wouldn't matter, I have plenty laying around but I was just trying to make the point that if anything could be wrong with it I would prefer it be mechanical to minor exterior damage rather than the title being salvaged and having had to have had (<<grammar?) the frame pulled. Tend to see them cheaper when there's some decent mechanical problems.
