So I went to Gridlife Atlanta a few weeks ago with my dad. I haven’t really been into cars for the last 8 or so years because of work and family. First car I did any modding to was a 96 firebird formula. Was a very fun car. Then In ‘04 I went to Nopi Nationals at Atlanta motor speedway and saw the power they were getting out of these 4 cyl engines and got hooked. Sold the firebird got an accord and did a bunch of work to it. Ended up selling it when I went in the coast guard and haven’t done anything since. I do have plenty of knowledge and experience with building engines. I was a machinery tech, so I’ve tore apart and rebuilt engine the size of my house. So anyways it took about 1 hour for me to get the itch to get a project when I was at gridlife. Started thinking of a good car to use for time attacks and things of that nature. When the ole GSX came to mind. I’m going to be on a tight budget for the first 4 months of the build, but after that will be able to spend the money needed. I figured that gives me time to tear the engine down, and prep the body. So after about of month of searching I came across a 96 GSX with a 6-bolt out of a 92 talon. Bought it for $1200, paying $800 to get it here. Was awesome to find the forum, already learned a ton just by reading different threads. Looking forward to talking to some of you guys. Let the fun begin, well hopefully in a week or so.

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned, the profile is a must. You should also be clear about your goals. People will reference that information when you are asking for help and to give the best possible advice it is best to put your realistic goals. If you are going to track it, be specific about what you are going to do. If its a street car only, that can completely change the setup.

Do your best to keep your posts readable. Break up the paragraphs a bit and people will have an easier time following what you are trying to say. Its not because grammar is important or something silly like that. It is because good communication can be difficult in a format like this online forum, so do everything you can to make your posts easy to understand!

I know for a fact there used to be (may still be) some very helpful people on here that wont even read a post if they glance at it and its not well formatted and easy to follow.

I highly recommend the investment in ECMlink as early as possible. It is wildly valuable in troubleshooting and getting the car to work right when you start throwing major modifications at it. It isn't cheap, but it is worth it many times over.

    Best of luck!

Yah I filled one out. Not much to say until it arrives. I can’t even remember the upgrades and things he said were in the car. Going to be like opening presents on Christmas, hopefully.

For the price I asked three questions: Major rust or Frame damage? negative. Any major known issues? Said the ecu was going bad. (Not an issue as I’ve already looked into dsmlink and the ecu can be repaired if needed) Last was why he was selling. Said he just didn’t have the time to do it right, and could easily just part it and make around a $1000, but wanted someone who wanted to restore it to have it. So I guess I will see what I’m working with in a week or so.

Are we talking APA format? But seriously, I will do my best not to ramble on like an idiot. I have already looked at the dsmlink, won’t need it for a good 6 months, but plan on having for the first startup after rebuild.

LOL but seriously and I assure you it is not for my sake. I could give two sh**s about that stuff. I was drinking and posting sh** on the forums and thats when I get long winded and preachy. I dont get on here enough to give advice to anyone but I have been here for a long time and those were tips I think would have helped me.
