i'd say mid to high $20k

It was right around $19k-21k depending on option. However, they were always heavily discounted, so most people got them for high teens.

I test drove a 90 TSI AWD in fall of '89. Base price was around $16.5 and with most options it was around $18k. The price went up slightly in the years go come. But really jumped up in with 2G Eclipses!
