I found a piece of 1/4" diamond plate aluminum at work on Tues. and started playing around with the plasma cutter & aluminum welder. Here's what I ended up with :rocks: :

Very industrial. Nice work on the fabrication.

I've always wondered how much unlined metal heat shields acutally help. The steel in the pretty heat sheilds is going to retain and conduct heat almost as well as the cast iron manifold. All the factory heat shields have a composite makeup with a thermal layer or two. I think if I were to go with a nice looking heat shield, I would wrap the manifold with some header wrap before installing it.

To those with press-bent metal heat shields:
Do they really lower under-hood temps much?

I rerouted the O2 wire and installed three new chrome, allen head bolts!!!

Put a eagle emblem next to the talon and it would be perfect.
