So how's it going? This definitely isn't my first time joining a car forum but it's my first time doing this serious of a build. I'm getting ahead of myself...

My first vehicle was a 71 ford truck. Big ol 2wd, thirsty 390, and a lot of fun really. Very reliable once I'd fixed 30 years of neglect, and painted it. So later on i got a job with a 100 mile commute and the 8 mpg wasn't going to cut it. I'd heard of imports and really liked the Prelude Si I grew up in. Ended up getting a 1993 BB6 Prelude and it was a revelation coming from a 71 truck. The Prelude led to an 86 Si hatch, serious go-cart there, and then a simultaneous 82 RX7. The 7 was a non-runner and I completely rebuilt everything on the car, even custom cut the carb venturis and bleeds. Eventually sold it as it wasn't a terribly good daily LOL.

I'm getting to the Mitsu part I promise. So I came across a Starion a few years prior, and went up to check it out. It was a total mess, full of mouse poop and smelled the same. I still figured for the price it was a good deal. I went back the next day but it was already sold. I checked around every so often for another one and I rarely if ever saw them. Then late last year I saw a black 88 Quest come up. Turns out, it was the exact same car! I bought it on the spot. Someone had put Starion Technica badges on the 88 Quest, but the vin says it's a Quest.

After getting the car home I eventually got the thing running and drove it the 2 miles or so home. I proceeded to replace the fuel pump, timing system, injectors, and filter. Then a DSM 1g MAF was added, and some new lines. After all that it blew up on me at 20 mph during a shakedown cruise around the block. UGH. Head was toast, turbo was toast. Time for plan B! 4g63 time!

Turns out that the Starion KM132 transmission will bolt to the wideblock 4g64 6 bolt motors in the Mighty Max. So the plan is to use the MM block with a 1g dsm head and a standalone computer. I plan to make this thing emissions legal too, so it's getting a cat and will be running e85.

So far I've gotten the block machined, the crank cut, rods picked and pistons. Oh and the gigantic intercooler fits LOL.

In the mean while I'd convinced my dad to build a MK3 Supra turbo...so that's my competition.

Made some progress today! Got all the old fuel lines cut out, and am ready to drop the tank, again. Of course, it decided to rain gass all over my arms, as I forgot I had 5+ gallons in the tank from the last time it was ran. Also managed to clean up some more stuff in the bay. Most importantly my new crank showed up! I read on Summit's site it requires 'narrow' bearings? Summit tech support didn't know what that was about, and Eagle's site is from 1995...ugh.

OK question time, what's the best/correct oil pump for a 6-bolt 4g64? DO I run a 6-bolt 4g63, or the factory Mighty Max one? Does anyone know of a good source of an exhaust manifold that places the turbo more rearward (or forward would work too) than the factory manifold (i.e. centered on cylinders 3-4 rather than 1-2). I'm worried about clearance to the shock tower.

Also of note, the Mighty Max flywheel, is identical to the Starion one, but weighs about 15 pounds less. I don't have scale but I'll grab some weights I have and balance it to see later. Free lightweight flywheel ftw!
