If you know of any events where there will be a few DSMs on hand, or you want to try and organize a local meet, try using the new Events calendar feature I just set up for the site:
First things first - be sure to go into your account details and select your Event Region (sorry to those not located in North America, I only set up North America regions) - you can choose multiple regions if you want. This will help you see events in your area as more people use the system.
Cool features of this new Events system include a "Going" button for each event. When a user visits an event listing and clicks the "Going" button for the event not only will we be able to see that the member will be attending each event on the event listing but you will also see a little calendar icon under usernames in forum posts to indicate that a member is attending an event in your region. This will only work if you have your Event Region field set in your account and the event has an Event Region selected for it. When an event gets posted, the user posting the event will be asked to select the "event region" where the event is taking place.
You'll start seeing "Upcoming Events" widgets posted around the site. My goal is to push more DSMers to take their cars out and meet up with other DSMers as much as possible. It's nice to chat about these cars online but getting together at in-person events is what it's all about. And with all that's been going on in the world, combined with the age of this platform, the more we can get DSMers together in person, the stronger we can make the community. Please go post some events and invite people to view the Event listings and mark themselves as "going".
