Finally! It took 4 days and nights to complete this color change and add the flames. The work was performed by my brother in law "Body by FatMan". If you like it, just say so, if not atleast give an intelligent reason why. This is far from being finished and will be an all season long project. We're going to wet sand the clear coat to remove a bit of the orange peel effect. The flames still have to be taken to be striped around the edges to accent them.

Personally I dont like it because I dont like any graphics. I like the clean look. You shouldnt care what people think, if *YOU* like it who gives a f- what I, or the next guy thinks. I would never do that to my car, nor do I actually like it, but who am I to talk bad about your car....

That's fine, I expected mixed feelings about it. Thanks for being honest atleast. I'm all about the clean look myself, and I've never done anything like this before. I had the opportunity to do this for nothing and I liked the ideas and what they had drawn out was really impressive. I guess I just figured "Why the hell not?" It was all over for the clean look when I said "Go ape shit on it...do whatever you want." I like it myself, I'm sure it will change again though. Even just having that smoke basecoat looked awesome.

In all honesty you should of kept the car maroon. Those flashy flourecent flames dont look good on whatever color that is....sorry, its your car not mine

I think the only thing is you should have closed in the flames a little more ... to round, and dropped the lime green color! Other than that I actually like the flames, this kat near me has a pearl white car with luminecent (sp?) ghost flames ...... it looks killer!

i dont like it.. cause it doesnt seem to flow with the rest of the car.. the graphics are all florescent color.. while the color of the car is a more plain neutral color.. so it looks kinda off.. i think ur car will look better with just the clean look.. keep that neutral silver/gold~ish color without the graphics.. cause ur interior and engine bay are already clean and nicely done.. just my .02..

I think it would look better if the flames were all one color, or all different hues of one color, but personally I don't like the fluorescent multicolor thing... But if you like it then that's what counts.

Not a fan myself... I prefer sharp and clean, no (or minimal) graphics, and definitely not lots of colors.

quite honestly. It looks like-(no offense) a mexicans car....

You of ALL people got some nerve to critisize the look of someones car Mr. Color blind.

Anyway, I don't particularly care for it. As others stated, it is your car.

:barf: sorry man those flames are retarded but who am i to talk my car's in pieces

I spent a bit of time wetsanding the clearcoat yesterday and really thought about the colors. I thought about what Joe suggested atleast changing the flame colors to one color or even atleast 2 colors only. We still have quite a bit of materials left over...I'm really considering a basecoat hood....not sure yet. The flames.....probably change that into something else..a tribal flame or something. I just don't want it to be so damn big it dominates the entire paint job. I do want some kind of graphics....no one really uses them here. I've seen very few DSM"s with them unless they were vinyl...

They already dominate the car. You guys should look at a color wheel and figure out what colors compliment each other. That is if you HAVE to paint flames..

When I say dominate the car I mean "Does it extend past the door and wrap all the way to the back bumper. Do they overlap the roof of the car and pour off the hood. Which it doesn't...so no..it really doesn't domintate the base color. Didn't think of the color wheel thing. We had several different candies, flourecents, metallics. Basically we popped the top on all of them and just kinda lined em' up.

I think that the paint job was great. I noticed that you got the engine bay and jambs as well. Did you remove the motor for that? If it only took you four days, I would say awesome. I don't care for the flames, but to each his own. I personally think that if you removed the flames, dropped the car an inch, and tinted it all around, you would have everyone here drooling. Silver is one of my favorite colors, especially on a DSM, and I'm a huge fan of the clean look. Considering you already removed the badges, I would keep it that way. If you want to keep the flames, change the color to something more sublte. That way, it would REALLY be appreciated. Doing the flames just a shade darker than the paint would really bring it out nicely.

Great job on the paint,
Matt.

I appreciate it. Yeah four days..day and night LOL. I plan on lowering it a little more just haven't had a change. My tires are in crap condition and money is low right now. Next is a wheel and tire package with 10% tint. I haven't talked with my brother in law yet but we'll probably change the flames or do something different.

well atleast you like it. its original and hey you like it so its not rice. ive seen people that have flames and they are like, well flames are ok but everyone told me to do it so i did.

i dont have a problem with it. it's unique, but there is nothing wrong with it.

i noticed on your interior that your steering wheel leather sucks just like mine did. i'm gonna suggest taking that leather off and you have a brand new looking steering wheel.

i did mine yesterday and it looks 100 times better. :thumb:

just take a razor blade and cut the threads and it comes right off. there might be a little goo left over, but you just rub it off with your hand and it looks PERFECT!

just a suggestion.

LOL You know what? I always forget about that damned steering wheel. That really is an eye sore. Actually I like the leather wrap. That must be from the previous owner. They probably leaned all the way over till they were almost sitting on the center console and had their seat reclined back with their white, pale, skinny, malnutritioned arm stretched out holding onto the top of the steering wheel. You know..for that cool look..when picking up chicks...LOL
I'll probably replace it with a new OEM if I can find one in decent condition.

i love the silver paint,
very nicely done...that being said this is possible the worst color choice for the flames...too many colors, all over the pallete. You should've looked at the color wheel for something 1) Dark to contrast it with the purty silver and 2) Complimentary with silver/light gray color. Dark Red to black would look the best imho
