I'm getting ready to put a new block in my car. I just had my head rebuilt so i'm using the factory one. Any suggestions or tips before I get started. And is there anything that you guys think i should go ahead and replace while im in there? The block i'm putting in it is used. Thanks in advance for the help

replace every seal, belt, pump, ect. that you can.its much easier to pay a little extra now then have to tear it all apart again and do it over.

things that come to mind and are pretty obvious
1.t-belt
2.water pump
3. t-belt tensioner
4. rear main seal
5. thermostat
6.oil pump

thats a quick list..im sure theres more that im not thinking of
 
haha thrust bearings huh? i'll check into that. And i've got a new timing belt and tensioner and most of that list u gave me.
 
If its used I would have it hot tanked to remove any residue in the oil galleys, cyl. walls cross hatched, and make sure your mating deck for the head is good by checking to see if its level. I did the same to mine. I had a 90 block that was hot tanked, bored out .20 over, and every lower end component balanced. I also had the flywheel and crank balanced as close to zero as possible. Remember you want your rotating assembly to be as vibration free as possible.

If you don't want to get it hottanked I would at least get some pipe brushes and clear out all the galleys. The cross hatch and balancing is a very important item not to miss when doing a new motor rebuild. Good luck!
