Well I finaly got a job wich means I can put money into my car. First thing is new computer .. or what ever is the problem of missing 1-2-and OD. But after that I'd like to put some HP to it. It's a non-turbo. I don't really want to turbo it. Because of the high compression rate, and I wouldn't be able to get good PSI. It is only a low paying job like 5.00 an hour maybe a bit more. Just after school. I'm looking at another one for when I'm not working there. If it's expensive I'll save for it. So what do you guys think would be the best first thing to do? Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the transmission control module or something to the likewise. Mine did the same thing and ONLY the Mitsubishi dealership could get a new one. That set me back a good $300. Yay.

After you get your car running like it should though, i'd start with the usual: intake, exhaust, plugs & wires, and maybe a UDP (if they make them for the 1g?). That'd be a start.

Yeah the transmission control modual was mentioned too. Where the hell is that thing located at?

I know on the 2g n/t it is behind the center console just under the dash. sorry but I'm unsure if its the same for the 1g

Yep. That's where mine was, behind the stereo. Actually, I think I somehow messed it up while messing around installing my new cd player and shoving the crossovers from my component speakers behind there also. We won't tell anyone it was actually my fault though:shhh: ;)

My haynes repair manual had nothing about the tranny modual. And said, the thing behind the consoul is the computer.

I was thinking about getting an UDP. I'm not sure i'd be able to do it . but im sure i could figure it out.

I'm really not sure of the exact name of what it is. When getting it fixed a couple different names were thrown out there, which kind of confused me. It is somekind of computer though, and broken, it would keep me in I think 3rd gear all the time. All I do know is that only Mitsubishi could get the part and it costed $300.

I was thinking about cams too. But if I went to buy them .. would I have to buy all new camshafts with it or can i just buy the cam lobes for more air intake? I was looking and noticed only "camshafts" not just the cams. So throw in any info on cams at all.

My Stealth has ECU problems and is stuck in 3rd gear. I had to go to 6 Mitsubishi dealers before they got down to the problem. All Mitsubishi cars Eclipses/3000 GT's etc have been prone to this problem. Your ECU may be fried or your TCM. TCM is your automatic transmission control module. Usually the ECU is what is fried and the capacitors in it are leaking and non functioning.

TO REPAIR THIS CONTACT:
www.avproecm.com they fix the ECU for Mitsubishi's

www.ecmtogo.com The guy there, his name is John and he specializes in fixing ECU for Mitsibishi's. He tests them and everything before sending it back.

If you want the cheapest way to fix it you could contact Jim Depew. email him at [email protected] he can repair leaky capacitors for $50.00. You have to take out your ECU and send it to him.:dsm:

Ok .. so then the tranny modual and the engine computer are about the same thing same box? Right behind the radio. Ok now we don't have many Mitsu Dealers at all. So how muh for a new one?

i know what underdrive pulleys are but you guys are all about using initials for them so it took me awhile to figure out what u were sayin.. ;)
