Need advice on used wiseco's please?

Hi, I just received some wiseco 8.5:1 85.5mm 6 bolt pistons and some eagle h beam rods yesterday after waiting a couple weeks for them to get here. I purchased them off a guy on here and was told they are in good condition and drop in ready.

Well when I received them two of the rings were broke and it was missing two rod bolts. Today I took them along with my crank to my machinist to have him inspect everything for me to make sure all was good to move forward with my build.
When he first picked them up he said they were crap just by visual inspection of the skirts. They were all scratched up. Them he brought out his gauge to show me why he sid that.

He measured all four and got different measurements on all of them. Two of them were off by 2-3 one thousandths of an inch. The other two were closer to one another. He told me I need to get my money back or I can cheap out on my build and he can clean them and put something on them (I forget the name of the stuff he said he can put on them). He also said I can get the block bored per piston size? Would that even be smart at all to do? I mean that seemed a little weird to me, but like he said I can be cheap if I wanted to.

What would you all suggest about these pistons and what my machinist said? I'm really tired of buying pistons from members saying they are good and this is my second time receiving damaged, but was suppose to be drop in ready.

Well when it comes to things you can see before you buy or inspect, purchase them new. I learned spend money right once especially something like that.

Really not the best way but you can get them coated to make up the diff. Did this in a friends built and it is still running strong 2 years later

I know I should've purchased new pistons but I really don't have the money right now to do so and I couldn't pass up supposedly drop in pistons with eagle h beams that only needed one replaced for 350 shipped. Put I guess your right. I should've atleast gotten the pistons new. The whole messed up part about all this is, I took the guy for his word and already ordered the new eagle h beam from extreme psi along with 4 sets of wiseco piston rings, ACL race main and rod bearings all for 345.xx included 2 day air. So now I kind of have no choice to either use them or try to get my money back and I say try because I already tried to contact the member and got no reply. Or I could try and return them like mentioned and just purchase some more 85.5mm pistons be ause those are the rings I ordered. I honestly don't know what to do that is why I'm asking for help.

When you say coating what exactly is the material used because I honestly can't remember what my machinist said and it was today I saw him . I'm just lost for words right now. The first pistons I baought off here from a member were literally looked like they were used as wedding bells on the back of a car and he said he didn't notice them, and he shorted me on my refund. Now this! I guess honest people are hard to find nowadays.

And you don't know how much abuse they went through before you got them. Especially a component that could fail and cost thousands in damage.

That sucks man. I would never put used pistons in a build. If one piston/rod combo went bad, who knows what bits of metal were flung around the crankcase hitting what other parts. If you're on a budget and running a 20g on meth, try getting your money back and shipping the parts you ordered back for a refund. I'm sure a stock rebuild on the 6 bolt you have would be sufficient. Maybe go with some 2g pistons or EVO pistons to bump up compression some.

I would not use those at all, I've helped a buddy build a block with used wisecos but were not even close to as bd as in your pic, id just get some new ones bro that looks pretty thrashed.

The guy needs to refund your money. If you have to, eat the shipping cost. package that "trash" back up and ship it cheap back to him. If you used a credit card when sending the money you can always dispute it. Takes awhile but itll get things done.

You should have asked for piston skirt pictures before purchasing. Definitely try to get your money back.

Lol what does people exspect when buying anything used. Its always ganna be warn even a little over new so dont exspect perfection. Run em with decently loose piston ring gap and cross your fingers. Other wise resell em. Doubt you will get your money back from seller especially sence you didnt ask for pics or research before making the decision.
Stock 6 bolt rods and 2g pistons cheaper then that you got and always a good setup. I say leason learned move on and research before modding/buying go fast parts. These ant no hondas .

Ok, so I finally got ahold of the seller and after a claim on paypal I'm getting a refund. The guy at first wanted me to ship the, first and when he got them he'll send me a refund. I asked multiple times for him to just send me my money back and put a hold on it or whatever he wanted to do but he wouldn't do that. He was acting like a strait scam artist. Anyhow, I'm getting my money back for the pistons and rods, but I'm losing a little by paying to get them polished and inspected, but oh we'll. I learned a valuable lesson. And now I got to send the replacement rod and all 4 sets of pistons rings back because I'm just going to buy new. I'm losing 35 on that for 2nd day air plus 12.50 to send the, back. Lesson learned.

For $362.00 +p.s.h rpm machine.com could have sent you a set of brand new, forged probe srs racing pistons 0.20 over with the wrist pins and retaining clips.
they dont come with piston rings, but hey get what ever rings you want.

I would not take any risks if the pistons were actually different sizes. You could like one of the guys said have them coated on the side to make up, but in my opinion the size issue stays the same i would think. Anyway the pistons sound like a risk to use. It may cost more money, but if they have issues now they will have issues with your whole motor at stake. That money could be alot more in the end.

Yea I'm glad as well. I finally blew my motor on the way to the track on Wednesday.so I'm putting the pedal to the metal on this build. I already got new eagle h beams, xtd unpsrung 6 puck new, venom smim, crank turned, ACL race main and rod bearings, gates racing t belt, and am about to order pistons new as we speak, just looking for the right ones. I was thinking wiseco 9.0:1 since I'm running e85. Stm go them for 475 with rings pins and clips. Then I need TB, head gasket/all gaskets, and little odds and ends here and there. Like rebuild the head, and machine work. Dropped my block off with my machinist today so it's already rolling for this build. Already got a 1g fwd act flywheel too. So I'm off to a good start. Trying to keep the budget under 1500 as I already got thousands into this car as it is. I was going to buy a awd 1g talon modded for 1500 but my wife said no baby, I like your car just build your engine . Will do!!!!!

Sounds like you have it all planned out. Remember to inspect your block when you pick it up. I have heard alot people finding problems with their block when they got home.

I would not recommend the overturned crank though. It will work great for low HP numbers, but I woud be cautious if you start getting into high numbers.

The crank has never been touched and is getting a very light turn of .010 or something like that. I know it's the smallest size bearings to order whatever that size is. Dang it , now you got me worried , I'm shooting for 500 reliably with room to grow about 600 tops. Do you think I'm going at this about the wrong way?

Every time I have used certain parts and had a question about its reliability guess what? That is the part that breaks. Internally you must use all good parts dont take any chances it will payoff in the end.
