Small update:

Didn’t get a chance to mess with the trans on the car with the weather.

I did however start working on door cards
CBB600F2-825E-4BAA-AA08-4A5235DF69CF.jpeg

Had to order hardware to bolt them on and got to finish putting riv nuts in place.
479C8B42-BB9F-40AB-A4AD-8E45EFBEC804.jpeg

Also got my pieces to do the grab handles for the doors as well

5EC2CFD0-9BB7-4528-8D00-3FDCA7DA646C.jpeg

This also showed up so I can send out to get built.

So the weather has not been my friend. But that hasn’t stopped parts from rolling in LOL

So I pretty well have everything at this point to send my cylinder head out to get done.

Eveospec performance ti bolts for intake manifold, cam gear bolts, and balancer bolt for the new motor

New valves from gsc and ferrea valve locks

602BD560-AE86-40CF-B854-10183874BC2D.jpeg

Also ordered parts for refreshing the t case when I get it set up for the 300m shaft.

Also went ahead and ordered ti t case bolts 🤣 wanted new hardware to bolt it together and found those so why not LOL

Small update:

Pretty sure Ohio weather hates me😔. I have gotten a few more parts in and did get my hardware for the door cards in so go those put on.

B203C202-A053-4FDE-8742-CF88F60897B7.jpeg

More evospec ti hardware for the t case and driveshaft.

Found this little mount for the pull handle on the second fire suppression kit I plan to install.

All bolted in.

Just about done.

ECC8B55B-3C13-42C6-9107-DA90F3E76DDF.jpeg

Added the pull handles so it’s easier to pull the door shut from the inside.
Hoping the weather will cooperate with me so I can get the trans pulled in the car. Been killing me not being able to drive the car

Looks awesome man!!

Finally got to work on the car some between rain storms 🙄

Got the top half of the trans taken apart

Looking like the jb trans pan might be a little tight getting out without dropping the front crossmember

443630AB-1290-4807-8C41-9BE9D1EF6C8A.jpeg

Not looking forward to fighting with this axle LOL

Next step is to jack the car up and start working on the bottom side. T case is already off which is a plus.

On another note I got the spare t case sent out to libertys gears to get the 300m shaft upgrade done.
5DB3802E-A3AF-4D59-A3F2-BD1BABB05E55.jpeg

Should see this thing back in about 4-6 weeks

Also planning on mocking the catch pan up while the car is in the air. More pics to come when I get that up there.

If you dont mind could you tell me which company you had build your auto transmission?

Who's doing your head? BTW, we have Darren Thomas Racing over here in Oklahoma. He can do both; rebuild your auto trans and your head. Just a note for next time. Loving the project.
Buddy of mine owns mad scientist auto and waiting to hear back from him about doing the head on my car.

Finally got to make some headway getting the trans out of the car to swap the flexplate out

0E4A340D-596B-458A-BE91-36B71AF6D9AA.jpeg

The easy side to tear apart LOL

488F0740-7187-4EAA-A459-9FA7EC79CADA.jpeg

Was super happy that the axle didn’t fight me this time LOL

So ran into a couple issue taking the trans out

875B336E-D20A-443D-B3FA-C3FB8452D1A0.jpeg

So I screwed up when I wired the cherry sensor in. I put the connector in the car high up under the dash so it’s not easily accessible. So my only option is to unbolt the mount and pull it out of the trans.

815E704D-DEDB-4037-AAB2-9E9428F9B746.jpeg

Second hurdle is I’m most likely going to have to pull the front crossmember to get the pan to clear.

Once again rain caused me to end the day unfinished. I should have it out this week though.

Weekend update:

Finally took the time to get the trans out!!

Don’t have a cherry picker at the moment so two jacks it is LOL

17046193-697B-4E53-886D-CCBD48A08BAE.jpeg

Buddy of mine came over to help me wrestle this thing to the ground.

The hole where the trans used to be

2470C3AE-876C-4BA7-B547-A3A8E8F5D117.jpeg

Good shot of the ovaled out holes on the flexplate.

Next step is to get the flexplate swapped and bolted back in, get the thread chaser through the converter bolt holes and clean them up.

Saturday update:

Went out Saturday morning to get the flexplate swapped out.

D0924775-132B-4A28-B458-71B476BDB9A1.jpeg

All the bolts started coming out easy enough except for the last one…. I had one idea to try before having to pull out the big guns on this

F0EA84B4-FD8E-4A23-8EEA-4256848AEB96.jpeg

Smacked this thing a few times with a hammer and then wedged my prybar to keep the flexplate from turning so I could ratchet this last one out.

Cleaning this surface up so that the kiggly diamond shim will sit there nicely.

Everything set out so we can get things back together.

0FB1403A-D403-49D9-B438-1D88C046B7A0.jpeg

Loctited in and going to give it plenty of time to setup. Got some new trans dowels to put in as well.

After that I decided to test for part of the vamos belly pan on the front bumper
866D943F-7705-4E5D-80C7-7F2B6646585F.jpeg

Getting some more hardware to bolt this thing on and I’ll mock this thing up once the trans is back in.

Should be putting the trans back in asap.

Weekend update:

So when we took my trans out I noticed that one of the dowels didn’t quite look right so I went ahead and ordered a new set to put in.

26E12A43-B49D-43D5-91C9-833B44952787.jpeg

Not sure where I got this thing from but it was wayyyy off.

The arp converter bolts that are for the gm 4l60e are a bit too long so had to shorten them. Pro tip: sand them down rather than trying cutting them. Learned that after smoking a couple blades and decided to get the belt sander out for the rest.

BD24AD87-A57D-47B8-B4AB-DD72369FEC9F.jpeg

This was my rigged up setup here LOL. Worked out really well though.

BD151D0B-139D-4EB9-92CF-A90D90AC8EC3.jpeg

Used my thread cleaning die on the bolt as a guide to know how much to take off then used it to clean the threads back up.

597A4F47-D629-4D4F-A23F-A46E6B3B245E.jpeg

Went ahead and sanded all 6 bolts down so I had a couple spares just in case.

Sunday I decided to start prepping things to go ahead and get the trans back in. There was a bolt I used to hold the battery down that the nut inside the framerail broke off on so I cut it out and put a rivnut in place to be able to bolt the battery down.
407862B6-7A3D-4982-8E9F-673D05E2BE08.jpeg

Need to get a bolt now to bolt it back in place.

Now came the not so fun part. Couldn’t find anyone to come help me stab the trans back in the car so I was on my own. One guy and a jack.

Took me about an hour fighting this thing to finally get it back in place

A40C26F6-268A-473C-B0D9-A51731395E38.jpeg

After this I got the mounts in place and bolted down. To finish the job up I went ahead and grabbed my converter bolts and got the bolted in.

C3333CD5-94A6-416F-903E-524EEA048787.jpeg

Didn’t take any chances on these things coming loose LOL. Zipped them down with my 3/8 impact till they stopped then took them another 1/4 turn with a ratchet. Also going to mark the bolts and keep a closer eye on them till the circle d converter is done.

Got sensors and stuff plugged back in, starter bolted on and some miscellaneous stuff done as well. Next is axles, t case tighten the cooler lines and fill the trans back up. I should have it running Sunday night f all goes well.

Also going to check on my 300m t case as well this week to see when I should be expecting that thing back.

So I’m prepping to get the car back together I noticed my axle intermediate shaft bearing had some play and just looked gross LOL

3D173723-2F03-41DA-A2CA-0A5F84775C0E.jpeg

So did some digging and found the right bearing through work to swap out.

The bracket was gross so decided to use the ultrasonic bath on my injector cleaner to Alena it up

E9489B21-9251-476F-AD03-B2F9C6A34D34.jpeg

It definitely made a huge difference in how clean i could get it with a rag.

5C5D00EE-9B9F-442C-BAAD-16DF94D701D7.jpeg

So I tossed the bearing in the freezer and tossed the bracket in the oven so I could just slide the new bearing in place

E030BD18-BA62-410A-9828-DEE61EB95BF0.jpeg

I’ll be getting things put back together this weekend and hopefully fire back up so I can do a little testing on everything before the year is up.

Little weekend update:

Busy weekend for me helping the wife with her business stuff. I did manage to get more done on the car Monday.

756283ED-6B32-4D35-94DA-24485D93ED4B.jpeg

Got my intermediate shaft and axles in.

Next I tossed the t case in and then realized I forgot to mark my inverter bolts

0C1A761D-B836-4CC6-AA8F-F198AA34A544.jpeg

I was able to still reach up in there and mark them.

51E97294-BF99-40EA-ADCA-5FB82B9D0B73.jpeg

Car is back on the ground and just need to put fluid back in the trans and should be ready to go. Had to get a new funnel today because I’ve lost mine somewhere 🤦🏽‍♂️

I've had good luck tack welding, only 4 bolts total, M10x1.5x11mm converter bolts.

Good catch on the shaft bearing.
