Good evening, and thank you for responding to my thread. Your advice is very helpful and I will take your opinion into consideration. I would suggest that you not make comments about a situation when you are not fully aware of the details and the history of the said company and my individual situation.

Now I understand why you were "knocking" my mutt 50trim. I am sorry you have had a bad experience but that does not give you the gaul to stomp on my parade:mad:

Now I am stuck with this darn Mutt, :D .

I was trying to save money, by purchasing one in a group buy sale. But they held mine up for months. But when it got here it had the upgraded TO4E hsg and the 39mm flapper. You could tell that it was a pain to get the 39mm flapper on because the weld looked liked it was done by a 2yr old kid.
But anyway, I think they were on a good path, because most of these hybrid turbos on the market now is based on the mutts...

I'm off-topic here... but can anyone recommend me a ball-bearing turbo for me? I want to replace/upgrade mine stock in 1g... somewhere along lines of small-16g. I want to be able to keep the stock intercooler... etc. Or maybe there is a ball-bearing replacement for 14b?

I have a brand new 7cm mitsu turbo housing sitting around, I'd like to be able to work with that, along with evo exhaust manifold and evo o2 housing.

Any info extremely appreciated.

Why don't you just run a small 16g then? It's not like it's a spool dog.

However I have heard that Turbonectics has a BB center section upgrade for Mitsubishi turbos.

Im gonna junp in here as well andf give my $.02 on the Mutt turbo's. My story on the other hand is a lot longer than JDMAWD's. SO here we go....My story starts way back when the Mutt was 1st a though w/ The DSM Shop. I ended up getting a Mutt 2 before it wasd released, and got it for the price of the Mutt 1, so i was cool w/ that got a hook up. Well time camer around the turbo showed up, i bolted it on the car got everything ready and decided to take a drive. Well we'll just say that turbo lasted a whole 2 blocks before the nut that holds the compressor wheel on backed off and was eaten by the turbo, nice huh. So im thinking great, what now... I was informed to send the turbo back i and in return received a Mutt 3 for the trouble. Well the turbo showed up, bolted it on and wow this one worked for more than 2 blocks, had the turbo on the car for probably a few months and decided i wanted to step up to something bigger. Sold the turbo to a buddy and purchased a Mutt 5 w/ T04E housing. Buddy calls me back about a week later and informs me that Mutt 3 failed on him. Anyways i get the Mutt 5 on the car everything is going well run it on the car for a few months everything is still going well, went to the dyno made 318 hp on 15 psi and discovered a had a faulty fuel pump so thatr was that. Few more months roll by and im preparing the care for the 1st race of the 02 season, week later the turbo fails. Send the turbo in and was informed it was not covered under warranty. They claim to give me a deal on repair so i fork out $450 to get the turbo repaired. Finally get the turbo back about 2 months later, missing out on half of the 02 season. Turbo finally comes back get it on the car and run the rest of the season w/o any problems until October rolls around and once again the turbo fails on me again. Once again return the turbo for repair and suprisingly the turbo is covered this time. SO im sitting here wondering how is this thing covered sometimes under warranty and sometimes not for the same failure each time, seems fishy to me. Anyways get the turbo bake about 3 months later. I dont install the turbo till March as the car was in stoarge for the year. FInally get the turbo back on the car and driv e it around for about a week preparing everything for the dyno. Trailer the car down to the dyno and make some pump[ gas passes. Car makesd 355 whp on 18-19 psi pump gas, so im saying to myself alright. Cars sits for about a week undergojgn cage install. Drive the car home, and about 2 days later the turbo starts to feel real laggy not maing power till about 6k. SO i pullthe intake off and sure enough once again the center carttidge has failed. Now this time there is only about 600 miles ont he clock and she DEAD. Now my questions is how do you balance a turbo that has a bent compressor fin? Becuase on the 1st failure it wasd bad enuf that the wheel knicked the housing bending one of the fins. Now on each repair they've done for they keep sticking that same wheel back in. Question is, is this turbo keep vibrating itself apart because of the fin, or is the buiold quaility just that pour? SO now once again 03 season has started and im w/o a turbo. My turbo has been @ Extreme Turbo for 3 weeks as of today and i was informed yesterday when i contacted them, that they had yet to even take the turbo apart. Oh also mine does not have a 39mm WG flapper either. Compared it to a 39mm and yeah, mines small. Prolly a 34mm as was JDMAWD's.

Ever since ATR took over the company i feel that the customer service sux ass. Back when Pete worked there it was great as far as contacting them and getting updates. Pete was the bomb, ATR sux!!! ANyone wanna buy a Mutt 5/ETE42 when and if i get it back??

Nick

Why would anybody put a turbo back on their car if it visibly has a bent fin? Shame on you. You are just as at fault as they were.

Well if you feel like buying me a new one then please do so.....Cuz i sure as hell dont after i already paid an arm and a leg for this POS that i am now stuck w/. I also tried to get a PTE but their back ordered till mid may early june, and i dont feel like letting the car sit half the season again waiting for a turbo assuming this one even comes back b4 then.

Nick

Well I only delt with David Hall before Extreme turbo was bought out and he is now gone, and so is the quality of these mutss.

MY ETE-12 however is in GREAT SHAPE, absolutely no shaft play what so ever, none, bicth pulls, spools pretty fast and never had a problem, I love it and will keep it till I need something bigger. The flapper is 39MM, the gate Hole is about 35, but you can port it out.

REMEBER, the more boost you run, the less gate you need.

Oh no, i will personally guarntee the flapper on mine is not 39mm. We set a true 39mm flapper next to mine and i assuer you mine is not a 39mm. The difference was like mine was say the size of a quarter the other was the size of a half dollar. Now for say there both 39mm, which company is lying, hmm!!!

I enjoy my Mutt level 3 ( now called an ETE32 ). Ive ran 12.01 @ 118.5 up at 4200 feet here in NV with it on 2.5 inch exhaust and stock cams. Ive had it for almost 2 years. Works good. I feed it oil from the factory location on the head too. It sees 23 psi of boost regularly. Every time I drive it. :)

Stock Josh

For reference, a quarter is about 24mm and a half dollar is roughly 30mm. In case we all wanted to know. 39mm is over an inch and a half wide.

Nice numbers man, I hope i can get close the that down here at sea level, I run 23 psi on pump also. Seems to be the pump gas sweet spot for this turbo:thumb: kind of violent in the first 3 gears thoughOMG

I wasn't implying that it was exactly that size i was just using the diff between the size of a quarter and a half dollar as a refrence in the size difference between my buddies 39mm and my "supposed" 39mm.
