movin to florida

hey guyz i'll be movin to florida at the latest by july. I'll be in DeLand..which i guess is pretty close to daytona and not to far from orlando. I was just wonderin what the dsm crowd was like out there. If ne one is from around tht area i'd like to know. I've got my 95 gst right now but i'm selling that in hopes to buy a nice florida eclipse when i get down there. I just dont wanna move to a place that is full of honduhs

Well get ready ........ although there is a nice DSM crowd out here, there are also ALOT I mean ALOT of honDUHS! Deland is a pretty nice area! close to Daytona and Orlando! Orlando has a nice scene, cars, night life, everything! KEWL! have fun and get ready for the sweltering heat and humidity!

I lived in Orlando for five years before running back up North with my hair on fire.

BUT I will say Deland is a decent small city.

yeah it is hot as hell down here but orlando and tampa make up for it. i lived in las vegas and went to school in tempe, AZ. so to me it is not that bad, but that is me. i live in ft. myers about a 1 hour and 30 mins south of tampa.

hey guyz. thanks for the heads up on the heat. I used to live down there when i was 1 but thats a lil different. I can deal with a fe honduhs..but o well i'll get used to them i guess. Its gonna be a pain to meet ppl down there cuz i'm not in school so i'm gonna have to get off my a$$ and meet ppl. But its good to hear that Deland is a good place. Hopefully i'll get back in the DSM's after i sell my GST.

Keep the info coming tho. I like the palm trees in the pic tho

Hey yea NY is nice.. I like the snow but i hate the salt. I can't stand salt. It Fu(ks everything up. That and my whole family is moving to florida. i have some family there already. Another thing is that there is nothing here for a DSM'er To get ne thing i have to either get it online pay shipping out the a$$ or drive a hour or 2 and get something. Plus the jobs around here suck.

I do have a 95 GST for sale tho...I need someone interested.

i am here in daytona. we have about 10-15 good DSMers around here. i have been wanting to start a daytona club, but cant get ahold of Tom Stangl....check out eSCIC.com. its our school car club. during the scholyear we meet in an abandoned Embry-Riddle parking lot at 10pm on thurs. Mike and Dane from this forum are around alot.

This is great. I was gonna post the same thread, i'm actually moving to orlando with my family and one of my friends end of this summer. So i wanted to know what its like there, I'm ready for the heat....I'm sure it'll suck sometimes, but I'll take it over -50, thats right, this winter in Vermont it hit -50 one morning...INSANE. That's when i promised myself it'd be my last winter here. Plus yesterday, I saw a Twin Turbo 94 supra, with Fl plates, it was one of the sickest things i've ever seen, its the only MKIV (is that right?) supra I've seen in vermont, ever. Anyway, can't wait to get down there. Lata

Deland isnt too far from daytona. its ok here, not much to do after youve lived here for a while, but orlando and miami beach make great weekend trips. the only real organized racing in fl is in miami, orlando, tampa, and tallahassee. tallens school club is pretty bad ass, a few DSMs, 2 240sx-s14 sylvia conversions with sr20det's, and a few other nice cars. theres also a general performance car club starting up, the site is flscc.com.

if you meet the right people you will love florida. i am nowhere near you but i have a lot of family in orlando. i love south florida though. i think its a whole different world compared to north and central florida though.

Well it sounds like my fam and I picked a pretty good place to move.. I'm lookin forward to it. Hopefully the DSM and car seen will be bigger down ther than it is where i am..well..if i see another DSM then it will already be bigger than where i am cuz it sucks here. thanks guyz

-50? Where the hell are you in VT the Canadian border?!? Damn here in CT we don't get ANYWHERE near that. I guess the Ocean keeps things moderate. :shrug:

I can tell you going from New England to FL is a BIG adjustment. Hope you don't like the uncrowdedness or two lane backroads because they pretty much don't exist down there. All 4 lane blvds that are total PITA to deal with. Mountains and rolling hills like New England? Nope. Culture, food and history? Nope. (Unless you go to Miami for some culture)

As for seeing cars in VT, I can understand...but all you gotta do is head South to the Hartford area. We have an incredibly strong "scene" around here. Many hardcore fast ass cars in this tiny state. Before you leave you should come down for a cruise on "The Pike". ( www.the-pike.net )



Good luck in FL, you might like it. It all depends on what you really like. Some people hate it, some love it. I like it for some things but after the first year realized I belong where I am now.
