And this crap is holding up? I've used it before and it would peal off like dead skin! :( Wish I could find something that will actually dye the vinyl. I have a black GSX with fully gray interior! :(

You had to of done something wrong is the paint was peeling off. Ive tried scratching my door and dash and the paint doesnt come off. I got some paint on my finger and it had to scrub and scrub for it to come off.

RIT Dye... You can get in the crafts section at walmart. You have to have something big enough to put your parts in though.

I have use it and yeah its a bi*** do but the turnout was amazing. No flaking, no peeling, no sanding, nothing. Just clean w/e you have really well, dip it in the rit dye and wait.

I used a long fish tank and a propane burner.

Blured I think I'm blind. Can't find it. That Rit Dye, does it damage the material? I got a humungo fish tank not being used... LOL but that would be alot of ####ing dye!

I've sanded the panels before, used a clear primer/adhesion promoter. And still it screws up. It doesn't like easily peal. But you gotta practically not touch the damn door panels or whatever. If you try to scratch it, rip! there's a ugly gash in your door panel.

I just used the vinyl paint again. I sanded, I primered and its already flaking. Not gonna install the door for a couple days, maybe that will help it cure? LOL They should have made the paint a dye! That way it actually soaks into the vinyl.

However after seeing the way it looks, I don't care for the fully murdered out look. I like this look best!

My opinion it looks like shit. The other photo I posted, thats what I was going after but it was years since I've seen it. The new door panels I get from another DSM'r will be done right, the way Blurred is doing his!

RIT dye is for the carpet, you can get it at craft stores.
SEM is a plastic/vinyl dye, you can get it at autobody supply shops. SEM Products - SEM Products

Link to my blog: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/blogs/blurred-talon/1743-dying-my-interior-black.html

I washed twice with Dawn dish soap, TSP (degreaser), air dry and then SEM's prep spray.

Haha, you must have saw my how to on the rit dye for the carpets on purity.. I have a whole write up on it that I did 3-4mnths ago.. That stuff works wonders and my carpet still feels brand new no flakes or anything.

Yes. Washed with Dawn, then brake clean cause it has no lubricants. Then Sand to scuff up the surface and adhesive promoter.

Trust me, SEM products and the procedure I posted.
Works great!!

Actually I talked to Josh/Eclipse GSX 61 from JNZ over on Talk about it. He mentioned on my Black interior project thread on Talk about doing his carpets with RIT so we had a PM convo.
I'll have to check out your write up though.

My big issue with the carpet is most the aftermarket stuff fits like poo cause it's not molded to the floor pan correctly.

I have been thinking of doing this to my interior. Except i want the dash to stay gray. Then black carpets, half the doors etc...

The interior looks really good. I was so close to doing this but didn't have the balls to go through with it.

I did the whole interior in my N/t with wal mart Krypton paint.. and it stuck on.. but I was stupid and didnt wash off all the grease.. I have since learned that the more coats the better.. especially in high teaffic areas.. I used there clear coat before and it sucked.. it actually took paint off if you sprayed to much.. I am currently trying some valspar black paint from lowes.. and it is working out great.. I wash every interior part very well and started going to town and am very pleased with the results.. I am still doing a few more coats just incase.. and then some uv resistant stuff like mentioned here.. I havent tried it so I hope it works.. The valspar stuff has a different smell.. its a very sweet smell.. and it sticks like crazy I have to take about 4 showers to get the shit off my hand it acts a lot like dye if you follow the dry times.. it says 36 hours for a full dry out and then add more coats for best results so thats what im doing 1 1/2 days and then many more coats.. I do 2 coats at a time.. and then wait the drying time.. I can post some pictures of how its turning out so far..

Ill update them whenever I do something new.. its not just interior but u can browse through to find the interior part of the work im doing..

well I'm back at it! the car has been sitting in storage for a while but its back in the shop. I finally got enough cash now to start working on it again.

The only other update I'm working besides trying to get the car back up and running is that I bought a set of black bucket seats with wedge brackets, got them on craigslist a few months back... I think they are just kragen seats but will do, I will post pictures up by the end of the month.

another thing im working on is a NRG quick relase with a APC steering wheel... also in black

will post soon again..

i have painted small parts and got good results but when people do full color change its like always a hit and miss kinda deal it either lasts for ever with out peeling or it starts to peel the very next weekend the people that have got good results what are they doing diffrent :hmm:

Finally got the time and money to start up the project again, and of course it rains!!
well I was able to install the driver side seat, looks pretty sweet imo.. It was a bit of a pita to install, the seat bracket was a bit off, but was able to install them without having to drill out bigger holes...

I'm using Wedge brackets and I dont know what brand the seats are but I'm assuming they are kragen/apc type seats... they look like there made out of black vinyl..

the only issue I see from having the new seats is, the seat belt is going to rub against the top of the seats everytime someone uses the seat belts, any ideas on how to remedy this?

aint that the truth! Well I had always wanted to go all black interior, but I was always scared, until one day I said F**k it... I found most of the major stuff on criagslist.. rear seats, door sills, door panels and rear window panels all in black but the parts I couldnt find im just going to paint, the seats were the latest find, they came with the wedge brackets.. lucky me!
