I'm always around on cruise weekend, usually in the wholesale parking lot.

Eclipse :D

Finally all partsnin the talons hatch, now to put it all together!!!!

I thought i was going to be able to rock the laser in perfect working order this year for cruse weekend, but that is not happening anymore since I am being shipped down to regina to finish up school. Last year I had the HX35 on with a malfunctioning waste gate, (spring collapsed) spooled extremely slow. This year I downgraded to a bastard 20g and slapped some kelford cams in. Disappointing but at least there are some cool builds happening in this province.

PS: do you guys run stock thermostats here? (assuming you drive your dsm's only in the summer)

I run a 180* but I'd probably put a 195 back in for winter.

ya but there's no need for a 170 on a proper setup

Well shoot... My car constantly hovers around 210* but a week ago in the heat it made the cel light come on. I ordered a 160* thermostat (i wanted a 170 but they weren't offered where i was buying from). Perhaps I should go for the 180* instead?

Its weird, I have a mishimoto aluminum radiator with shrouds and 2 fans plus ducting yet I still am a bit hot.

So the rad has good airflow? And are the fans always on or still at the factory setting? 1gs stock only turn the fans on at 203*.

I have a 180* thermostat, OEM everything else, 50/50 coolant, and I cruse all day at 190. In traffic it's usually a little higher since my fmic isn't ducted or anything.

When it's cold outside, I actually have a hard time getting up to temperature with the 180*.

The 180 t stat is the oem temp. That just means the t stat opens at that temp, it doesnt mean your car will run at that temp.

False yet again. Factory 1g is a 195* thermostat with the fan turning on at 203*. When my car was bone stock it ran constantly at 203-206*, whether it was -40*C or +40*C outside.

It's also one of the biggest misconceptions on this forum that you should always be running 20-30 degrees above the thermostat. That is just not true

Rad has as good airflow as I can muster, the radiators edges are completely sealed to the FMIC. Fans switch on via relay from the stock wiring.

Also thanks for affirming my ideas about the specs of the t-stat, indeed 190* is OEM for 1G dsms (triple checked).

Looks like I am going to have a collection of t-stats, Im going to order a 180* today, try that out (which i think should work based on Mike's experience, every car is different though). If it is still warm ill try the 160* out.

Thanks for bouncing the idea around guys.

I would like to see some of your cars sometime!

I run a 160ish, cant quite remember what the exact number is. My car gets hot, and damn hot. cruising on a normal summer day and I push 203F. When I actually beat on it it isnt uncommon to get to 210-215F before I left off and try to bring the temps back down. Its a real issue when road racing my car and has really started to piss me off. I have now wrapped all my exhaust parts and am close to cutting a vent in my hood to deal with this.

Been super busy, hoods at the paintshop, parts here added more to the growing list, should be together aug 16th

Here's the new parts list that's done. Mishomoto 3core radiator 170 tstate hks timing belt with all new components hiflo waterpump new plugs wires injectors upipe for the turbo to intercooler new battery. Oil change and minor fuses replaced she'll be done Tuesday

Saw your car tonight Mike, unfortunately wasn't able to linger long enough to see if I could catch you.

I will be out in the Staples parking lot more than likely tomorrow.

Yeah I saw you too but you parked so far away and then I never saw you again. LOL

I'll look for you tomorrow then!

haha yeah, I saw you heading there just as I was leaving. I'm too tired to spend the rest of the night in the city. We'll have to meet up sometime soon.

Speaking of that, me and my friend with the blue Mitsu GTO are planning on going to SIR at the next street legals in just under two weeks, so if anyone else wants to join it'd be nice to have more Mitsu's there!

Yeah I saw that GTO, wife took some pictures of it at the show and shine.

I just need to remedy my intake piping dilemma and I should be good to go...won't be putting max effort in as I'm only half tuned at the moment.

What are the rules at SIR about going down the track with a laptop plugged in?

I just strap my laptop down to my passenger seat, but it just needs to be somewhere it can't be moving around.

Anyone coming to the car show in Regina tomorrow? ?

Anyone in sk got a built 6 bolt head forsale?

I got stock 6 bolt heads, if you still need one just let me know.
