Looking to change your interior lighting color? Don't know how, or what to use? Have you changed your light color, but don't know how to light up the HVAC or gauge cluster, or don't want to remove the needles to light up the cluster? Well I can help with all of that. I've been looking for a solution to these issues for years and finally just built my own parts. I can build them for you as well.

    20190323_183447.jpg
    20190323_180136.jpg
I build these to be a direct "plug & play" unit, so as such, I require your HVAC controls be shipped to me so I can re-pin the wire connector.
I can build these in any color requested as long as I can get LEDs in that color. The "hot/cold" bars will only be done in red and blue as designed by Mitsubishi. I'm not changing those colors. If it really, really has to be done, mention it and we'll discuss it.

    Red:
    20190303_122513.jpg

    Blue:
    20190409_182808.jpg

    White:
    20190405_213507.jpg

These are the only colors I've ordered LEDs for so far, but they all wire up the same.

    PRICE:
    $50.00 + shipping

I will be talking to the various shipping companies to see if I can get a flat-rate shipping quote so everyone can have the same shipping price.

PayPal only, please have your address correct as that is the address I will ship to only.

Turn-around time will mostly depend on shipping time. My work schedule can be hectic, but usually I can make time to build these panels within a couple hours, and ship back out either the following day or day after. Please pack your unit well to prevent damage from shipping, we all know how bad they can be. I will ship your part back in the same box with the same packaging. I won't be held accountable for your part reaching me damaged. I'm honest about what I do and how I receive items, I won't break it accidentally and blame the mail service.

These panels are also being changed up a little. Although the pictures look good, I'm not fully 100% satisfied with them. I'm adding a few more LEDs to the panel for better light coverage with no dead spots regardless of where the knobs are turned. Price will remain the same.

I do also change the light color on the interior switches, ignition ring, and gauges. I won't change the color of the hazard switch since it's going to be hard to see any color except red through the plastic. I am willing to add a red LED to it so the light is crisper and matches everything else though.
I'm willing to do switches for $10.00 per switch plus shipping. (same price for ignition ring)

    20190310_225122.jpg

    20190313_193425.jpg

I don't have a current plan for the gauge cluster that I'm ready to sell. That set up takes a lot more planning and finesse, but will be offered in the future once I have a set design.

Questions and comments are welcome. Send me a PM if interested.

Is the dimmer still functional with LED's?

I have a friend who's supposed to be shipping his Evo IX parts so I can build those. I need to get some 1g parts to modify. I don't have any 1g parts, but would be willing to build them.

I don't have HVAC lights but have a spare 1g turbo gauge cluster. I'm fundless currently but if you're interested in doing 1g stuff I'd be happy to send a cluster, and could always pull the HVAC backing out of my spare car (if it doesn't sell too soon)!

The cluster bulbs are t1 LEDs. I added that recently to the led replacement thread.

Not trying to hijack your thread. I actually love what your doing here. Rather than laying a strip of LEDs in there and calling it done like I did. Love how your makig them two colors :thumb:

That was a challenge to figure out while still getting the selection knob to remain the proper color too. Had to create a way to block the light from one direction but not the other and came up with this.

    20190323_182047.jpg
    20190323_182407.jpg

The hvac that is currently in my talon is just led strips. I found some thin strips and figured it would work and it has great coverage, but the blue section failed when it went into the car. It worked before installing, but not after. So then I decided to design this board.

No worries. The main reason I even added the cluster info was just so everyone knows there's option for it in the future.

Try using a reflective tape under the LED's and on the pcb board, also places were the LED points to something round/bend, it will extend the light area taking out dark spots.

Also have a look at using wide angle SMD LED's strategically placed, you can even make it colour changing if you want (alternate colored LED's or RGB LED)

I used to do LED cluster upgrades 15ish years ago, wasn't as popular then (LED's were a lot more expensive). I had setup my red needles to flash as my shift light at one stage (wasnt as obvious in daylight) which i did for a few people (possible options for cluster LED upgrade)

Looking good so far, keep it up!

I've actually always wanted to get my tach needle to flash at shift points, been a long time since I've thought about that. I would love to just make them all able to color change too. I will definitely check out the wider angle LEDs too. Thanks for the input. Can always use more.

I like the white HVAC, nice work. I did a hackjob on mine and they turned out pretty similar. Because I used white leds, the temp selection knob looked normal.

For my cluster I have done white 5050 SMD led strips and replacement size 74 led bulbs. The strips were more even, but to keep it from having hotspots I used a sheet of sandblasted clear plastic. Sandblasting gives a surface finish that helps to diffuse the light at the hotspots. It was only necessary in a couple spots. Not sure if you are having any issues like that, but some type of light diffuser may help.

    Keep up the good work!

So last night I had a thought. I have A LOT of spare interior parts. So I decided to build a "bench tester" for all the switch, hvac, and gauge lights, and to let everyone see their parts lit up before sending them back to the owner.

    20190603_200316.jpg

And since I've never, ever seen the dimmer switch lit up on any DSM, it does light up, but is very dim. The dimming function even works on the switch. I will be adding that to what I offer you all.

Well I am glad to see this come to fruition. I will definitely send you my HVAC controls. And you are offering $10 per switch too, that is mighty tempting for someone as lazy as I am.

Now I just need to beg my friend to CNC me some aluminum dials/buttons to replace those cheap plastic ones to make the LEDs look even more crisp.

I will PM you when I am back in town and have enough time to tear apart my interior

Well, since you mentioned the cluster, I have been working on it recently. This specific one is just a concept for what I want in my cars, with dual colors, but it's building the basis for what I'm going to offer for you all. @ViciousLord, thanks for the kind words, they give motivation.
