Keeping water out with hood vents.

Is there a way to make sure water doesnt get all over everything in the engine bay with hood vents (Lancer EVO for example)?

yes. Dont drive in the rain... or dont have hood vents.

Or, build small drainage guides/pans under the vents to keep water off the coils and alternator.
Going down the road in the rain, a fair bit of water gets to your engine after it comes through the radiators. Formula One ran for years with the engines sitting out naked in the rain. [Ooo! Spanish GP qualifying this morning!]

yeah, a little water is not going to hurt your engine... unless its going in the air intake. The worst it will do is make your engine dirty.

A bit of rainwater is _good_ for the motor, it likes moist, cool air.

You should save the umbrellas from your drinks, and use them when parked.
