Wetaskiwin,
Hey I was wondering I'm gonna put a K&N air filter in and I went down to the parts store to buy one and they had a number of selections to choose from, so I looked for a guide book to tell me which one to buy and they didnt have one... and well the parts guy..... he didnt know that much about vehicals.... so can someone plz help which filter do i get for my 92 laser? Also is it better to have the shielding on over the cone filter or to keep it off? My buddy was telling me its better because more air flow will come in..... so i need some more opinions

I have never had a problem with the auto stores having more than one filter...but you should hack the can. Or just remove it completely if you dont know how to hack it, or dont feel up to the task. Follow this link...Go to the "Intake" section and the first few links will guide you in the right direction...VFaq

Good Luck

Just order the K&N Drop in replacement filter for your car. It's round just like the stock filter. Then you will just cut the hole out bigger than it is now leaveing the back covered. Also don't cut any of the bottom ring out where it holds the filter in because it's part of the way the filter is held it and the 3 clips go over it to keep everything in snug. Basically take off the plastic snorkle and make the hole larger but the same shape.

Yeah, I'm with you there, but it just makes for a pain in the ass for the next guy who comes into this thread off an honest search. Like in a Microsoft manual where they refer you to _another_ Microsoft manual, and when you find it, it's only to read three lines or less. Like it would have killed them to print the information twice.

Besides, many DSMs are already in the wrong hands.
