I just ordered my new BB 50 trim and can't wait to install it. Does anyone have any pics with their coolant kit installed. I have heard that they won't warranty their turbo if your not using the coolant kit.:D

Yes, it is. But he didn't use the PTE water line kit. Has anyone out there used it?

I'm using the PTE water line kit. I trimmed down the tubes to fit and mimiced the bends on my other water lines with rubber Goodyear transmission cooler hoses.

Just curious, where did you order your 50 trim from? I too was told that the PTE warrenty is not valid unless their water line kit is used, but I bought direct from PTE. The kit was only $40 and I'm glad I did it, but other people that purchased them from seperate vendors haven't heard anything about that.

I bought it through SBR. They haven't let me down yet. They did not say anything about the warranty. I'm not even sure how long the warranty is, if any. I read about it on here somewhere as I was researching the turbo. What site did you get your kit through? Is there anyway you can get a picture of your setup? BTW, how do you like the 50 so far?:dsm:

Read that thread he made..he answers your questions. Says his car's not up yet so he doesn't know how the 50 is. I'd imagine it's quite awesome, though. Can't wait to get mine on! It's waiting for me....

The thread posted above was not started by him. What brand filter is that in the pics? I'm going to run one but haven't decided on which one yet.

Ohhh. Sorry, for some reason I thought blcknspo0ln replied where blackGSX2g posted..my bad :D And if you're talking about the filter in my pic, I don't even know. It's the micron filter that The Speed Factor sent with the install kit. Whatever kinda filter it is, I can't open it up for the life of me..I put two big ass crescent wrenches on each end & tried opening it but it won't budge. Which isn't good since I'm gonna have to open it up to clean the filter out every once in a while...

PTE offers a one year warranty. You get papers and what not with the turbo however they do not talk about using their water line kit and slowboy never told me anything either. So i want to know whats the deal because i don't want a voided warranty or anything like that.

I've searched everywhere and still can not find anywhere that says the lines are to be used or the warranty will be void, but I may just buy the kit just in case unless someone chimes in with proof otherwise. All I know is I can't wait to see how this thing pulls over my 19C.:D :D :dsm:

Is that the GT manifold in your picture? Or is it the SBR mani? I just ordered a GT tonight.:)

I can chime in on this. I've had mine on for maybe 300 miles so far. I love it. It pulls so much harder than the to4b v-trim did that was on before it. It doesn't spool much faster though. I just put down 317hp and 320 ft/lbs at all 4 at 21 psi on 93 with some knock up top as my injectors hit 102%. So there still more to come just by getting enough fuel. Looks like it's time for some 850's.

I bought direcly from PTE, so thats probably why they told me that. The kit was on backorder when I got my turbo so I ran it with the stock 2g water lines for a bit. I was a bit worried when I began to hear a faint 'supercharger' whine from my turbo if I really tried to hear it.

The next day my water line kit came in and once installed, I never heard any weird noises from the turbo again.

If you bought from SBR, TSF, etc and they didn't tell you about the water line kit, then I wouldn't worry about it. If it breaks, send it to them and they should be able to take care of it for you, whereas I would have to deal with PTE directly.

We sell PTE turbos and I've never heard of them requiring you buy the PTE water lines. I gave them a quick call just to confirm and they said you're required to run water cooling on the ball bearing turbos but you can use the stock mitsu water lines and still have a warrenty.

The turbo just arrived today!!:D This thing looks sweet. One question though, did everyones have a little shaft play in it? When I bought my old B16G, there was absolutely no shaft play at all. This one has a small amount. Maybe as the oil pressure hits it will tighten up. And where is the cheapest place to buy the coolant kit?:dsm:

I think you just answered your own question there man :D Just run your old water lines and be done with it. :thumb:

btw, since my car has been under extensive maintenance, at 17 psi she feels like a raped ape. I can't wait to turn it to 21 :thumb:

We've noticed that the new bb t3/t4 turbos have more play in them than journal bearing turbos. I've confirmed with Garrett that this is normal and when oil circulates it forms a layer of oil around the bearing and it tightens up. Every turbo chra is balanced before it leaves Garrett and if there was a play problem it would be caught.

Thanks,

OK, I finally got everything completely ready to bolt in. I had to grind down my brand new Turbochargers exhaust manifold to get the far right side to slide past the motor mount and onto the stud. Now, my oil return line is coming out directly over the bottom motor mount. I am going to have to use a 90 off of the turbo. Has anyone else had this problem?
