Hey guys,

I'm pretty excitied that I got my FMIC and i slapped it on right quick with some rope and cutting of the bumper to try and see how its going to fit and mark how high/low i want it. Well i went to Home Depot and I saw that they had some brackets there that maybe I could use for the Intercooler. Now i called around for tig welders and they seem to want a bit much for just some brackets. So is it possible to use JB-Weld to sturdily hold the IC in place? And if so, does the brackets need to be the same material as the IC to use JB-Weld?

Thanks for the help guys and ill have pics up soon,,,i now realize what my dsm was missing...looks HOT!!

sheesh, u just paid like 1 grand for that intercooler, and you were gonna put jb weld on it? Just make some proper brackets with the home depot ones. Didnt they include brackets witht kit you got?

Actually I only paid 280 shipped and it was only the core /w endtanks. Great intercooler though (26"x8"X2" with 2 1/2" in/outlets, 12 row, tested up to 25psi) and brand spankin new. ANYWAY, i guess im going TIG welded but my last question is then the brackets i saw at Home Depot were made out of like...zinc plated? or was it copper plated? anywho, i didn't see anywhere if they were actually made of aluminum. Safe to use? Is there a website i should just order brackets from?

thanks again,

Go back to home depot and buy some Al bar. Make your own brackets and then have it welded.

Also, where did you get this IC for so cheap?

The steel that you are talking about is probally galvanized, and that is something that you don't want to be welding......get some aluminum to make brackets, and if you don't know how to weld, let someone that knows what they are doing weld it.

there she is! well i got it off ebay from a place that custom makes them. doesnt look bad eh? anyway a local performance shop wants 300-350 to mount brackets, pipe it, silicon hose, and install it. So im looking at a total of 580-630 for everything done. not to bad and if i could weld myself i woulda saved another buttload. thanks for the replys guys, lets hope the install goes well...
