Just completed ABS to Non ABS swap.

I just wanted to let you all know I finished doing my abs to non abs swap. It took about 3 1/2 hours from start to finish. Just wanted to say thanks to all who I questioned and who offered the links to help me.
It sure does look a whole lot better under the hood with out that big ol'box sitting there. Any way just wanted to say thanks.

why'd you take the ABS off?

Well I am not a big fan of ABS on cars, now on my Ranger I love it. But the guy who owned the car before me didnt do anyhting right it seems.
The ABS unit must have gone out so rather that find one that works they just removed the box and tied them all together with a Proportioning valve. Its looked terrible and there was a bunch of un needed brackets left behind. Any way look better!!

ahhh ok..cuz when i bought my car, i was told it came with abs..well, i looked at the door frame and saw the orange sticker saying i have a rear lsd instead (90 talon), so i was happy for the lsd, but also wishing i had the abs too. mostly because i'm lazy.

If I recall correctly, 90 models weren't available with ABS. They had the cruise control where the ABS would go.

But the ABS on the first gen cars really sucked. I removed mine because I felt so unsafe with it. Wet or bumpy roads tended to kick in the ABS and drastically increase the stopping distance.

I agree, the ABS on 1gen cars suck. To me it just seemed that they never work correctly. I removed mine do to the ABS didnt work and the guy who owned it before me made a rats nest of bypassing the ABS unit.

We are about to do the swap on a friend of mines car. After he drove mine without ABS he said he loved it.

can you tell a big difference? i think mine is not working anways, because i was coming home from work and breaked hard and my tired locked up. is there a VFAQ or something i can go off of?

Thats the came vafq that I used to do my swap. It looks harder than it really is. It was my first time attempting it and it was a lot easier than I thought.

The only difference I seemed to notice was that it just feels firmer, and feels like you have more feed back, but that could just be in my head...
