Hey just got my talon. Ive knew about DSMs for awhile since my brother had a laser that had 29k on it. I fell in love after that. Talons are my favorite, and 1G over 2g.

1993 Eagle Talon AWD
130k miles
2.5inch Thermal Engineering exhaust
Apexi 3inch down pipe.
2.5 inch high flow cat
Evo 3 big 16g
K&N air filter
Hacked air can
Walbro 255
new oil pump
new water pump
New Timing, and other belts.
New Tires.
6 puck clutch, which will probably switched out soon for something for dailyable.

Congrats buddy! Sounds like you have a solid setup already with the car. You'll need injectors if they are still stock. Let's see the pics!

Yea, its got its problems. I fixed most of them.

Horn didnt work - wire looked like it was chewed through, I just removed the front right one. I still have the front left.

Right turn signal - found this doing the horn. The clip that plugs into the bulb, was probably hanging by threads for each of the two wires. Cause when i pulled the turn signal out, the wire just disconnected, leaving the plug in the light housing. I just spliced it all nice.

Just changed the coffee, whoops i mean oil.... castrol gtx synthetic and bosche filter

It idles a little high, so i still have to adjust that.

Needs a tune, its running rich, but after this oil change it kinda smells a little leaner. Then again im no wide band.

Pics...hopefully coming today, might be tomorrow.

I think i might get the tranny rebuilt. Dogbox is having a special. $100 off any tranny rebuild, if you mention the thread they posted here.

What's wrong with the clutch? I DD on a 6 puck ceramic without any issues at all.

You say it needs a tune, what do you have to get it tuned? Chip, ECMLink, DS-MAP, SAFC, AEM EMS?

safc ii. I been reading manuals, but right now the cars not insured so i cant tune it driving. Plus i dont understand it alot.

YOu live around jersey?

And the clutch, its heavy, the tranny is a little clunky with 130k.

Dogbox is having 100 bucks off any tranny rebuild. The normal rebuild was 570ish, i might grab it for 470. They are great with trannys i heard.

Heavy? What are you comparing it to, a Volkswagen? Most clutches out there that are made to hold power will be heavier than a stock clutch, it's just how it is unless you go with a twin disk setup.

I'm right outside Harrisburg (central PA)

Oh yea man, i know a stronger clutch will be heavier. But this isnt really gonna have that much power, its just gonna be a fun car during automotive school. Maybe mess around with air fuel and have fun with. Nothing extreme, why put that pressure on the tranny, when i can defiantly get by with less.

Idk, im probably wrong. I wouldnt be surprised.

But yea the tune, i asked 1fastlaser, i know him through my brother. He lives close, right in jersey. Once my car is legal, im gonna meet him hopefully.

so with 130k miles, what should i be looking for?
Right now whats pissing me off is the trunk lock. You can pop the trunk from up front and you cant open it. But it comes up a little, cause the light comes on you have to push down on the hatch to shut it (just a click). I put the key in, do the different key dances and jingles, and it wont turn. Its weird. maybe something is clipping somewhere, but why would the key turn in the lock.

What added pressure on the tranny? Well, I suppose it'd put a little added pressure on the pivot ball in the bell housing. But the pressure is being put on the crank mostly with a stronger clutch...

With 130K, I'd flush all fluids, check turbo shaft play, timing belt job, check comression, fix any leaks, check ball joints, tie rods, tire wear...

Are the hatch struts functioning or do you have to hold up the hatch when you open it? If the hatch struts are shot, put in new ones and see if the trunk pops correctly when you pull the lever. The hatch lock is most likely seized up. You can replace it or try taking it apart and cleaning it. Some people just squirt some graphite lubricant in there or WD-40 and it loosens it up. Sometimes it doesn't work though.

Pics up. Im gonna do the tranny, x-case, and diff lubes. Go over all the cv boots and bushing. my next day off.
Turbo shaft hopefully before work today.

Hatch pops now, key still doesnt work.

My brother in law is gonna take into sears where he works, free alignment and such.

Im gonna get this brakaleen stuff, and take off all the dirt and stuff underneith to look for any oil leaks. Guy said it has a small remain seal leak. When i did the oil change, it wasnt too bad under there.

To get the key working, try putting the key part way in, then hit it with PB blaster. That is what I had to do to it to get my hatch key to work. Your key will spell funny, but it will go away eventually.

Yea ill try it, i dont have PB blaster, but would wd40 work? most likely not haha.

Also im looking at getting my tranny rebuilt at dogbox. I was looking at the $575 one i see advertised at the top of dsmtuners.

Till march 30th they take $100 off so you cant beat that price. But does anyone know whats included in that rebuild?

Weiner Cousins!!Mine looks identical with 20 thousand less miles and no motor:sneaky :sneaky:

your body is probably in way better shape, anyone think Mitsubishi will have the touch up color for my car? or do you think Chrysler would?

I didnt tell anyone this, but me and my brother think either the gauge or oil pressure sensor doesnt work, because im getting some.....baadd reading. Were gonna hook up a cheap sun pro mechanical gauge today.

Wish me luck, alot of luck, so much luck, you sleep for 2 days.
