Alright guys, I'm expecting you to tell me something I don't already know, which wont take much. My sources say that I can swap in a JDM Mitsubishi Evo I 4G63. I have the opportunity to do so. The powergains are obvious, but when it comes to installation what should I expect? My sources say its a direct bolt up, even without using modified mounts, and that it will fit my 2g AWD tranny just. Is there any curve balls I should expect? Lemme have it. Thanks a lot you guys are amazing.

In a 2g, you will have to do the normal 6 bolt in a 2g stuff. Not a 100% bolt in, but close. The engine is the same as any other 4g63. There are no power gains. If you blew your motor, and need another stock motor, its a good option. If your looking to do it ot get more power, its completely stupid.

That engine is rated at 250hp with less weight and a bigger turbo. Isn't it closer to a g1 engine only with 6 bolts?

dont be a fool, get a g-vr4 motor... ive got one in right now, runs like a champ (after i got the gear ratios cleared up).... evo swaps have a few different things going on on em, i can tell you EVERYTHING you need to make a galant work tho.

whats so different, thats what I'm asking. I don't want to sound dumb, I'd just like to be informed, you know. I see this engine and it looks like its a good deal and could run well in my car. I am wondering why it wouldn't....

gvr4s bolt directly in, and are alot cheaper simply because they arent from a mitsubishi lancer evolution blah blah blah... i got a big16g setup for 1 grand with 30k miles and nearly no wear at all. not to mention the thermostat upper housing and the o2 sensors are the only things you need to change over if your installing in a 1g... so basicly its a direct swap. the wires arent PERFECT, but they do fit just fine with a tiny bit of moving around. evos DO have the incorrect ratio for your rear end and you WONT Be able to get the correct rear end, resulting in the fact that you HAVE to get the correct ratio pinion and ring put in your JDM tranny. while with a galant, this is a posibility (wrong ratios...), but you can have someone count the ratios before you buy it and make sure you have the right ones. do you think they ragged on the evolution a bit more than they would a nearly basemodle galant over there in japan? i sure do... and as i mentioned, the sticker price is going to be alot higher and the milage is due to be higher since an evo is alot more expensive and they probably pay the upkeep to keep that motor in the car longer.

look at how many people swapped in the evo motor and look at how many people did galant motors (take in mind taht they ARE the same thing...) the later evos WERE opposed, so dont shell out cash on a motor that totaly wont even work...

any ?s ill try to answer em about eithe rmotor, but im not to farmiliar with the evo setups, but i know the galants like the back of my hand and they ARE alot mroe friendly to swapping.

Lets say I'm getting this engine for dirt cheap and the tranny comes with it. It is cheaper than any other Gvr4 engine I could fine for the exact same thing. Should I pay the extrta for the gvr4 even though they are the same thing or go with ther cheaper engine?

well, your not going to be able to use the evo tranny.... what do you call dirt cheap?

he could solve the tranny problem but just using his awd 2g tranny, it will work, they bolt right up

i say if you can get it affordibly, go for it the only somewhat difficult part will be the wiring, because the colors dont match up, so you gotta pretty mcuh ignore colors, and just track the wires to their pins
