ISC causing check engine light to go on!

well this is kinda weird because this pass week, my friend with a wrx started out having his check engine light go on because his 3rd cylinder is miss-firing. then after a buddy of mine with a gsr rinsed down his engine with a water hose, he also had his engine light go on, someone from a shop said that his car was running too lean but im not sure myself maybe water got into some places it shouldn't. Today i was parked with my car on and guess what i see, i get a check engine light! So what i do is bring down my car to a shop and get it looked at. One of the mechanics told me that my ISC is malfunctioning. What is causing this and how do I get this fixed without bringing my car to a shop?
 
ISC = bolt off, bolt on, it sits.. oh wait, u got a GSX.. I'm not 100% sure about this but... uhm.. it should still sit underneath your intake manifold elbow.. around ur EGR valve area.
There's 2 10mm bolts I believe and a plug you need to disconnect, they are quite expensive for a brand new one.

well i had a diagnostic shop pull out my CEL and it has now come back on. For some reason, my ISC is malfunctioning. That is what the computer code read.

ISC unit shouldn't be making your CEL come on. Is your car idling funny? why don't you go to an Autozone and have them pull the CEL for free?

my CEL came on with the P505 code (or something like that), "idle control system malfunction." I replaced the ISC with a spare one I had laying around, and the CEL has not come back on since

do u know how much a ISC would cost?
