I recently purchased a 6 bolt front case, since I would like to retain the front (and rear) balance shaft, I was wondering if the condition of the front journal pictured below is allows for it to be reused with a balance shaft installed.

How is the bore where the BS slips in?

Thanks Bogus for chiming in. The bore seems Ok, even though I can't say for sure since I don't have anything to measure it with any type of accuracy. It doesn't show any score or abnormal wear though if that can be a good indication, I was concerned about the flat surface because of the radial markings you can see in the picture, I couldn't tell if they were machined like that or indication of excessive friction on the original setup (let me add that I am waiting for my reading glasses to be ready, i can't see a thing from up close as of now).

That is where the front BS passes through, common wear is what I see. It is still smooth and not chewed up.

Make sure the thrust face on the BS is in good condition and you will be fine.
