Is there a short shifter for a '90

I ordered a Fidanza Short Shifter tonight. I doubt it works on the odd ball 90's. However, it should work perfect for me. I'm using a 94 1.8ltr tranny and 92 shifter cables and shifter assembly. I'll post up reviews when I get it installed. :thumb:

I received it today and installed it today. Install went smoothly and was really easy. I havent driven on it yet, hopefully tomorrow, but it doesnt feel any shorter to me. However its very precise.

I was thinking about that after I installed it. The lever doesnt have a stopper like the stock shifter. I dont think this is good. I wonder if I can drill through it and add a bolt to make a stopper.

Well, In my 1g eclipse i noticed that my shift feels so much shorter than my friends 1g eclipse... is there anyway i could find out i have a short shifter? :dsm:

it will not work for your 90, don't even try it, you will be wasting money. read the discription too, it says from 91-94

What a pain in the ass tho. It wouldn't be so bad but most of the people on here don't have a welder or other tools to do such a thing.
but i guess it is a short throw shifter for a 1g.
 that article shows a 90 short throw shifter that you can buy. theres a guy at the bottom of the page who you email and he'll send one out. and lookin at the welds on that ebay shifter theres no way i would trust that thing. with the splatter it looks like they used flux core. then again i can't fully see the weld.
the shifter i got by reading that article shortens the throw and it does not sit that low, it can be cut and shortened though. i'm also using a 2nd gen knob which i like because its nice and heavy and to keep everyhting solid i have brass bushings through out my shifter.

Where did you get all the Brass bushings?
http://www.machv.com/ and make sure they send the ones for a 90. i also have the metal ones for the cables. i've had a few people drive my car and they say like it, as long as you like the feel of a hard shift.

dude don't PAY for something like that. All it is is a stock one with a section cut out and welded back together. I did that same thing on mine over a year ago. As far as performance you won't really see gains from doing that and you really aren't shortening the throw a noticeable amount. Send you stock one to me and I'll do it for ya for $20 with better looking welds. :thumb:

Is this shifter a good quality part? How easy is install? Is it true think read there are no stops with this shifter unlike the factory one and you can hurt your tranny with one of these?
