2G IS IT MY STARTER? PROBLEM STARTING

So I’ve been having trouble starting my car sometimes, I just hear spinning noises from starter then it catches and starts up, my car starts fine but sometimes I just hear the spinning for a min then it catches then starts, I’m thinking it’s a electrical problem, I took out the starter and connected a battery to it and everything looks fine, it moves out and spins fine, I’ve even cleaned all the terminals to it. Everything is bone stock except I put an air intake and new BOV, so it’s the original starter and no one has messed with the wiring.

it could still be a bad starter. the bendix is suppose to pop the gear out, and it could be the bendix is failing and not popping the gear out far enough

I had a similar issue (https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/1g-intermittent-starter-issue.544123/#post-153891021). Ended up removing the starter, disassembling it, degreased/cleaned it really well, and re-greased it. Works better than new now.

U might be right, I’ll just buy a new starter since this starter is like 25 years old, I know I have to buy the right one with 1.4kw and not 1.2kw, I’ll keep ya updated

I might try that before I get new starter thanks
