im sick ...but of school....ive been writing a speech for my senior exhibition...here give it a read!!

My senior exhibition was the Academy literary Magazine.
I chose to do this senior exhibition because I wanted to give something back to the school that the students contributed to and could enjoy. It is important to be because I wanted to show all of the teachers as well as myself that if I wanted to do something I could do it right and all the way.

Researched-
Read numerous literary magazines as well as books about the programs that I am using. I evaluated different magazines according to different criteria to determine what I either liked or disliked about the magazine. I learned from the research that when there is only black and white stuff within the magazine, it is dull and boring even if there are pictures. I figured that if I make it a more colorful magazine with pictures, borders, and other elements to keep the attention of readers. I used my research with quark and photoshop to use different elements to make it more entertaining. I used photo shop to resize images and various other things. I really liked it when I used photo shop to create a word from a picture, using the picture as the interior of the letters. It turned out really good (Beans in the book).

Creation
I began by looking at last year’s literary magazine. I wanted to make this year’s better than last years so that people would want to buy it more. I started out trying to get submissions from students by just either asking them or asking their teachers to ask them. That did not work so I had to make flyers to put in the hallway. This got the word out a little bit better. I still had to constantly talk to students to get submissions from them and eventually it worked. As I was getting the submissions, I was taking them and creating a layout for each page. I did not want every page to be the same so I had to come up with new ways to have the text lay out on numerous pages. I wanted to incorporate color because that it was attracts your attention to a page rather than just black and white. I also need to make the stories use different fonts so that if two were on a page you could easily tell them apart just by the font. Overall it took me about three months to create and finalize all the layouts with editing and moving things around. I had to wait longer than I really wanted to get submissions than I would have liked to but Mrs. Pace had some she wanted to get in. The last thing I had to do was decide where to put everything and make a table of contents. I also needed to make a cover page. I tried to get a couple art students to help out and make a design for the cover but I could not get anything appropriate. I ended up taking a couple pictures of the school, using Photo Shop to make them look better and fix lighting problems as well as Make the title lettering and art page lettering in Photo Shop. I used different elements to create a stone kind of look and drop shadows as well as the coloring in the letters to make it more visually appealing.

Putting together
Putting the magazines together was a fairly easy task. It took around a week to print, punch holes, and bind the first 25 Books. It was more time consuming doing the printing because I did it all by hand and had to print double sided and it just took time. Binding took about 3 hours total with punching holes and putting them in the binder. I also got a clear front protective cover and a black cover for the back.

Learned
From creating the Academy literary magazine, I learned that things are not always as easy as they seem. Initially I thought it wouldn’t take long and I could get it done pretty quickly. I learned basically that I couldn’t slack off when I start something. I need to keep going until I get it done. I also cannot rely on other people to do things like the cover and all. I should have done it in the first place because it came down to the wire when I had to do it.

Deal with opposition to struggles successfully; find a solution to problems.- I did this when I had problems with getting submissions. I found a solution, which was to work with the teachers as well as the students to put the word out in mass that I needed submissions.

Future
My plans for the future include going into the Air Force for Aero Space Engineering on august 5th.

How I feel about the process
I think that this process with the senior exhibition was really educating because

im still doing it and i gotta present my entire year long project on wednesday

dude i hear u for bein sick of school. i'm at the end of my freshman year in college, holy shit am i glad its almost over. all my teachers suck at teaching and got sooooooooo far behind its unreal, so what do they do? pile a huge project on us to make up for all the slack they forgot to cover over the semester. so far i have a graphic design project due, a 10 hr drawing, and a 10+ page literary analysis paper due next week. i wanna punch my comp 2 teacher in the chops, she never has class, its always cancelled or she lets us out after the first 5 minutes cause she doesnt wanna be there. wtf! im payin for u to teach me, now teach DAMMIT!

Right on...my math teacher is from Egypt...literally cant understand him...my Digital Comm teacher sits around and forgets to tell us everything...buts its all good....good ol Air Force here i come in august!

i am ACTUALLY sick...i've got a nice head-cold right now. and it's been 65-85 degrees the past week!!!

i just don't get it sometimes. i rarely get sick, but when i do, its always at bad times.

I had bronchitus (sp?) for 2 months in the winter, that was f'ing hell on earth for me.

I'm not sick but I woke up yesterday with a crick in my right shoulder blade and it got worse throughout the day. Today is not too bad. It's going away.
Other than that I took my hard-on pill this morning and it got stuck in my throat and it gave me a stiff neck.
