95-99 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler Sebrings with the 420a motor are an exact bolt in. The dodge neon will definitely bolt in but I can't say if there will be any issues with gearing being different or not. I've not dealt much with their automatic transmissions but that may be an option as well. You'd have to do some research on that

The PT Cruiser 2.4 (and cloud cars) transmissions will also bolt up to the 420a, but the gearing is definitely different and you'd have to swap the TCM in most cases. I'd try and find one already installed on a 420a car before looking into this.

Worst case you could do a manual swap. But that creates a whole new list of parts you need to shop for.

Any year and how would i fix the gearing issue? Also i’ve seen that you have a yonaka exhaust where did you get it? I want one for my car!

The different gear ratios aren't necessarily an issue that you need to fix. I was just stating that the PT automatic transmission is geared differently than the one in your Eclipse. So you'd have to live with the difference in speed/rpm. And use the PT TCM to control the transmission.

Here's the link to purchase the same exhaust system I have:

I personally would just buy a manual ecu. Using the auto ecu is possible. But with a manual unit you also get the advantage of having a higher rev limiter :hellyeah:

Now you'll need a few other things. Obviously an NVT-350 or similar transmission. Pedal assembly, master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic hose, modular clutch assembly, throwout bearing, shifter cables, shifter assembly, 2.1-2.3 quarts of fluid (synchromesh, ATF +4, or 10w30). And I've likely forgotten something. The manual swap is definitely worth it on a non turbo model though. It's not only a stronger transmission but more fun to drive IMO. You could have almost everything you need if you get really lucky at a junkyard. Trying to buy everything new or separately can add up.

Hmm i’m in Cali and there’s not many DSM junkyards. Since my auto gave out i want to Manual swap although i don’t really know how to even start. I did some research but it seems that the 2GNT website is down and i was gonna use that as a sort of guide.

Yeah i tried on my phone and laptop and nothing works. Ima just go in there blind LOL. I was thinking of selling the car but here in my area there’s no DSM so every-time someone sees them they always compliment. Thank you for your help man.

Question do the GS spyder parts work with the regular hard top gs? if so could i take the transmission and ecu from them?
For the most part, unfortunately not. Those have a full Mitsubishi drivetrain that differs from our Mopar setup. There are some things you could use from that car, certain body parts and interior parts. But not a transmission or TCM.

Oh dammit i’m trying to find the parts i need for this damn swap and i can’t find any. I came across this website what do you think? https://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/se...tion=All+States&userIMS=&userInterchange=?DAF}}}}}HO&userSide=&userDate=1998&userDate2=1998&dbModel=51.5.1.1&userModel=Mitsubishi%20Eclipse&dbPart=400.1&userPart=Transmission&sessionID=14000000162761404&sURL=www.car-part.com&ref=mobileweb&userPreference=zip&userZip=90280&userLat=33.9490000&userLong=-118.2020000&userIntSelect=848160&userInterchangeSource=HO&userUID=0&userBroker=&iKey=&userPage=3

I've never used that site, nor do I know their origins. So I can't provide much valid input about that.

As of today, there are 8 Neons (1g/2g) at my local junkyard. That is just the one nearest my home, I bet there are a few at other yards across the state/country. If MT models, those have an NV-T350 transmission that is very similar to what was used in the Eclipses. My point is, it's probably a better idea to go remove a transmission yourself than to order online. This way you can inspect it before purchase. Unless you want to spend $2k on a remanufactured one.

The transmission is obviously the largest component that you will need for the swap. Everything else are small piece parts that you can source online with less risk.

From RockAuto you can order these needed parts:
- manual ECU
- master cylinder
- slave cylinder
- modular clutch assembly + TOB
- axle seals
- fluid (just get from parts store)
- transmission mounts (if needed)

So now you're only left with getting various hardware, pedal assembly and shifter assembly. Look for this on Ebay, or search the classifieds section here on the forums. There is also Facebook Marketplace but I hate the site.

I just looked for you and it turns out both transmission mounts are the same between MT/AT. So you can literally bolt up whichever transmission you'd like to your engine & chassis. It's just a matter of hooking everything up to be functional.

But swapping it to a neon is a whole different process? Also i’m looking at the ECU at rock auto and it doesn’t say if it’s for a Manual and Auto. I can’t find the damn shifter cables for it too they are 400$ on ebay.

And my local junkyard LQK are some price gouging thieves who are selling the parts almost at retail price……

So far i went with the swap i’ve got everything done but wiring in the speed sensor and the start i know people link to the ATMT 2GNT forum but i can’t understand it at all like where do i get the wires from? do i get wires from an autozone and just plug them? i don’t understand anything electrical.
