Hey everyone. I have a 91 GSX and am desperately in need of a new turbo and intake, they are both pretty screwed. So now i am planning on upgrading the intake and turbo asap and i need some info. Ive heard about people using a GM MAS, are there any links for info on installing, using, and acquiring this? VPC is out of the question since they are rare and costly... Secondly, if i am planning on using a GM MAS and getting a ported big 16G turbo, what intake would be the best choice? I was thinking of getting a dejon tool but now im not sure what to get since a GM MAS might give more room to play around with...

Lastly, what can I do with my BOV? All the sudded i was actually able to hear it the other night, the hose between the intake and bov had popped off so it was like i was venting to the atm. Is there anyway to do that with this new setup I want to get, without any problems? If there are any links for venting to the atm for my car i would appreciate a push in the right direction. I fell in love with that BOV sound though... Hehehe.

Any info or personal experience would be great, Im pretty much looking for a tried and true setup for the intake / bov / mas / turbo for my 1g awd. Thanks guys!
 
In regards to the maf, does GM have special part #'s or something, and do they carry the translator also? My moms bf works for gm so he could get me the ls1 mas cheap, but im not sure about the translator box... I think it says horsepower in a box on it according to a pic i saw.

And if anyone has any tips on what brands i should buy for this setup please let me know, I want to do this right the first time. Also I would take more time to try and search on my own for these answers, but ive moved and now im back to dial up instead of dsl. God it sucks, so slow... So please hand feed me any answers, thanks for the help guys! :)
 
MAF Translator is produced by Ramchargers. Check out the tuning section for more info. on this product.

The GM MAF used in conjunction with the MAF Translator can be picked up new from GM, or used. I heard they can be had new for around 110-120, and typically sell for 40-60 used. You can use a 3" MAF found on LT1 cars, or the 3.5" found on the LS1 based cars/trucks.

As for venting a BOV to atmosphere, it can only be done if the BOV is upstream (before) the MAF unit, otherwise you'll be venting "metered" air that the computer has already accounted for.

Ok well ive decided to get an LS1 MAS and the translator. Now I just need to know which intake would best suit this setup, and how I could vent my bov to the atm instead of going back into the tube. I need to get a good setup and fast... Thanks. :thumb:
