2G ikeya formula sequential shifter?

As far as knowing what gear your in; I usually go by what the car needs, you can tell by the feel and the sound of the engine and the road whether or not you need to up shift or down shift, if your in a corner or going strait, H pattern or sequential if you need to stop and think what gear you need you most likely aren't a very good racer.

Do you need this shifter? No
Is it cool? I think so.
Is it going to make me faster? maybe. I shift fairly well in my mirage turbo with the good old H-pattern. but I like stuff that is different and that not everyone has.

If this was $100 would more people have them? most likely.

I have one of the shifters that RoadRace Engineering had made.

I am trying to build a cool, decently fast 2g (shooting for 9's) and wanted to see how the sequential shifter works, Also you have the option to install an ignition interrupt and with a dog box you can have clutch-less shifting. But I am not doing a dogbox for at least a year if ever. Hopefully the car will be running next spring but time, money and school will tell.

PS. if this doesnt make any sence I'm druged up (mucsle spasm in my back, on soma and darvocet) so forgive me.

+1 I agree 100% and I'm in the same boat as you. I'm shooting for 9's and think this mod is cool and know what it would do. Do I think it will make me more consistant at the track probably do I think it will make me faster as in a no mistake run with H pattern vs a sequential shifter run, no. I will be using NLTS and running a dogbox built by dogbox racing in North Jersey so I won't even have to let off the gass so I think shifts will be plent fast.

Found the article.. it was in the August '04 issue of SCC. I thought it was a Road/Race shop car, but it was actually put on a customer's car (hence the rice). Still very cool though. It has the gear indicator next to the SAFC just like the 1g posted above does.

Good input^ to the above. RIP SCC as they are no longer producing magazines.

I think you still are debating the consistancy of this kind of mod without any proof and then acting like the rest of us who use a H pattern every day obviously couldn't possibly be right when you have never seen any of us shift. If this mod were so great why isn't shep using one. He obviously doesn't have to worry about how much the mod cost he has just about the best of everything. No matter how much you hype up this mod it has only two benfits. It is more consistant and is suposedly faster( like I stated before I don't agree with the 1-2 and 3-4 being faster but I will give it 2-3) that's it. This mod will take .01 seconds off your quater mile time if you sucked at driving before. Unless you have a gutted race car with fully built setup that you bracket race with and it's some bad ass trailor queen no matter what you say or how intimidating you THINK you knowledge is  this mod isn't and will never be practical for this platform. Saying this thread isn't for me because I'm interested in the idea of one for a dsm but not for $1500 is thread nazi of you and seeing how your mor of a lurker than someone who actualy contributes to this site I don't even see how YOU have a leg to stand on.

Can't debate with a person who has no clue what they are saying.

Edit: By the way my current project is a fully gutted track/street car car with aluminum rod stroker HX52(think gt42r) 10 point roll cage fuel cell chuette ect. but as you said this doesn't matter what so ever ; )

I don't care.

I don't care.

Your right it is hard to debate someone when they have no facts no proof and don't quite comprehend the other sides points. If I were you I wouldn't care either good choice:thumb:

RRE didnt have anything built for them or have anything protoyped they bought them from seqishift in europe. I tried to buy one a while back from them but they dont sell them anymore but they did give me some info on where I can buy one at.

Who doesn't sell them anymore? Seqshift? or RRE?
