There was this thread on another message board where this guy was askin about buyin a talon and the usual "mitsu's suck, they are unreliable...blah blah blah" and this guy posted this as a reply.

"If you buy a DSM, you won't change the timing belt, you'll put off that oil change for 15k rpm, you'll run the turbo red and then shut it right off, and then when your car explodes and kills your little dog muffin, you'll come back to the intarweb and complain that DSM's aren't reliable and mitsubishi is a bunch of ####ers for screwing you over."

That's how I killed my 1G GSX. It didn't "explode", but the clutch died, it mysteriously ate quarts of oil, had a massive overheating problem, and both door handles snapped in one winter freeze. It had 80k miles on it. I swore I'd never buy a Mits again. That didn't last long though...
