Well , due to the fact the I would never spend $1000 on wheels I decieded I would paint my stock wheels.

I sand blasted them, Polished the lip, and painted them.

Here is the before.

Maybe I can get more up.

I laid out 5 coats of base and 4 coats of clear. I have not yet had the chance to buff and wax them but then they will bling more. Then Im gunna take some wadding to the polished lip and make it shine.

Heres another along with a pic of a 14B I polished and a heat shield.

I like polishing stuff but its so time consuming and your hands get stained for months and its cold here still. So once summer comes and I have more free time Im gunna polish more stuff. :)

how do you guys like my work?

Tell that to Ray (DSMED) Half the pics are shakey, he was hitting the bottle that night  It was dark so we didnt bother with to many pics.

I'll get more once my car is rubbed out and cleaner looking.

(I wonder if anyone will notice my exhaustless gap)

I lost my exhaust in a crazy speed bump inncodent, But I have some 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch piping in my garage. :) so im not worried about it. It came off at the cat....I can live with it till I get my new one welded.

turboback for $50! Cant beat that with a stick!

the heat shield looks really nice. how long did it take you to polish? and i bet after waxing and polishing the wheels will looks sweet.

edit* did you use anything in particular to clean up the lip on the rims?

Thanks guys,

For the wheels I used a brass wire wheel @ about 2000 rpm, It was just to get it clean, Im not done polishing them, I still need to really polish them.

The heat shield is easy, Its getting it to stay like that. Thats the challange :)

hmm, we should build me an exhaust...i'll be home in t-minus 7 days

I polished up my 5-spokers over the weekend....they were all dull and grey....it's amazing how much better they look now, but Tom's right, it is time consuming (but I wore gloves to keep away the stains).

I used a cotton buffing wheel on the end of my drill and some emery compound to start and then some white rouge to shine it up nice.

Dremel will work, sort of, with the felt wheel and emery compound, but it leaves a little bit of a wavy finish, you definitely have to go over with with a regular buffing wheel once with the emery and once with the rouge for it ti look nice.
