Well, as some people know i sold my TSI spyder a while back. Got a grand cherokee, didnt liek it, sold it bought a del sol (dont laugh, it outhandles almost everythign ive gone against!)
so now i have a del sol, orders to japan in 6 months (jan leaving) and im in a hard place

option 1-sell the del sol, and use the money to buy somethign in japan
option 2- I have two GS-t 1gs that want to trade with me. One completely unmolested. THe other slightly
one is white (unmolested) the other black with grey trim, both solid cars.

id keep the car when i go to japan, make a small wharehouse of parts at the house for a 2.4 buildup adn everything else that i want (suspension, interior etc)

the guy is commign from atlanta this weekend, and might throw up 1500 also in cash for all the aftermarket stuff i have on it

I want a DSM again!!!
So ill prolly go with 2!

UInless you want to trade for a Del sol i cant do it. If you wnat to then im down. Im trading a honda for a dsm straight up and they are paying me a lil.

Do what everyone does when theyre stationed in Japan. Buy a skyline...

Do you still need to go through all the legallize processes if you import it while your in the Military?

we are held to all laws that you would be.

You could cut the car in half, send the engine, front, and rear in 3 different shipments, weld together and register as a kit car.

I dont want a skyline, they are like mustnags over there and IMO overrated.
The list of cars that im considering when i get there
vr4 Lengum
Stagea
Evo
sti wagon

but damnit, back to my oprigional option. Should i build a car in japan, or trade for the DSM, and build it to hell and back.

Id build one in Japan. Me, I would get a 7g Galant VR4 5spd. AWD, 6a12tt v6 engine. I know a guy that had one running only 12psi and was in the 12s. Think stock hp is rated at 250-280bhp, not sure exactly.

Either get a 7g or the Legnum, the Legnums are sexy as well, but not sure if they made them in 5spd?

if i get a galant, itll be a lengum. THey are hot as hell. but the problem is, after 3 or so years, what do i wdo with a car i have 20,000 in? I cant bring it back for a reasonable price. Its entirely too much work to ship an engine, and everythign home to HOPE to put into a galant gtz here (i want it fully loaded). THats my hangup. If i get an S13, or something, i can send all that home and be sure itll work when i get it her ein a 240, or an evo and stuff. But i just dont know yet.

If it were me, I'd try getting an evo3......and I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to gaico. :coy:

Theres a guy in Washington DC who imported an 8g VR4. It is RHD and his dailey driver, not sure what all he had to go through to get it here and legalized, but you might want to PM him and see what he had to do...

are yall tryign to talk me otu of another DSM or am i crazy?

Just get a car while your over there, something that is sex on wheels to all of us in the US. Then, when you find out you're coming back, sell it and buy a DSM or two with the money.

The military has to ship POV's with you.
At least it was that way when I was in.
A guy in my squad got messed up orders and ended up spending about 2 weeks over there, bought an EVO 7 first day. They figured out they sent the wrong person, and they had to pay to have him and his car shipped back to Jax Fla.
The car spent 1 week in customs, and then went to a inspector to be cleared for safety and emissions testing. 2 weeks and 3K later he was beating up on C4 vettes...(yes it was a while ago).

no tin japan. The laws are weird over there. Plus safety standards, emissions etc are diff.

So i build a car for 3 years, and its usless. THAts the only hting that im hung up on
