I found a transmission and purchased it because the company guaranteed that it is in perfect working condition. They also provided documentation that the transmission had 71k miles on it.

The transmission is also marked "Viscious LSD." I was under the impression that Viscious did not make an LSD for our transmissions.

Once I get the trans installed I will be able to confirm an LSD or not ( I am not able to disassemble a transmission with any skill).:confused::confused:

Fortunately, it is incredibly simple to crack the transmission open and remove the differential. You can use the 3.55 write-up from 2gnt as a guide to getting to the differential.

Of course, if you don't feel comfortable going that deep, don't. :)

But but but....I guess I can break down and see if I have the energy. It is so cold and I am so lazy.

I will let you guys know.

Does Viscious have an email or phone number that anyone knows off hand?

Yeah, I saw on 2gnt where you said it was a F5MC1.

So..............................open 'er up and lets see what you got in there :sneaky:

I am scared tho. I have a history of pulling things apart and always having that problem of getting them to go back together.WTF

From my understanding, I should be able to pull the front casing off and just separate it evenly with two blunted flat head screwdrivers... After that, I should be looking at the differential where the axle shafts enter the transmission. What exactly should that look like?

For a retard like me, what are my chances of effing up my nice pretty trans?

I hope I made you chuckle Mark.

I bought the trans from a junkyard, they said viscious which I thought believable as an LSD company. I than learned that there are viscous LSD's which are hydraulic.

This tranmission is worth every bit of $375. I opened her up and there is no ground down gears or anything, the magnet was nearly clean. (I had to pull it apart b/c I dropped my speed sensor into the differential.)

I was dreading taking the trans apart but, it is actually only a 10-15 minute job.

Its not an LSD, as one tire was on the ground and the other one wasn't and I could spin he one that wasn't.

That could be the combination of viscous and LSD.
Our cars are not true awd, as it can only deliver to three wheels at a time - both front and one rear. If three slip, then it won't give any power.
The likelihood of three tires slipping is so slim, that it has never been a problem with me. The gamble is that if three slip, you're probably already off the road anyway.

You're only front though, correct?

This seems like one of those posts that the guy says a whole bunch and nothing really gets said...ROFLROFLROFL\

I also noticed that where the shift linkage connects to the transmission is different from my old transmission. My old transmission looks nothing like any other NV-T350 that I have seen

I also noticed a whine? when I accelerate. It sounds like the flux capacitor charging up to go through time. I almost sound like I have two turbos winding up. I haven't noticed much more than different gear ratios than normal.

My new transmission seems to be about 500rpms per 10 mph (hope this makes sense) lower in every gear but first and second.

Sounds like you have a neon trans which would explain why it was cheaper. Neon did have different shift levers

difference is the years. Some years got the weighted levers, some didnt. just like how the 95 casing was built stronger, there was a lot of additional webbing cast into the outer case.
